eBay account alive - Paypal suspended

Hi guys,

I have a US paypal account which was hit with a limitation a few months ago however my eBay account was/is still fine.

I'm considering attaching another paypal account to it as this eBay account has alot of fedbacks.

The wierd thing is I still can list but obviously I can't accept any payments on that paypal account.

Has anyone else experienced this, usually the eBay account is suspended soon after the paypal limitation.

Cheers

My paypal account got limited/closed but my ebay fine. Thing is since my paypal account got limited I cant pay my ebay fees ($600) and so I've made a new ebay account and made a merchant plus account. Now I'm awaiting to be approved by ebay for merchant plus. Then I will start accepting payments and my money will go directly to my bank account for only $30/month. Very happy.

If its an older account (pre 11/07) it might be worth getting a merchant account to attach to it.

If not best to just dump it and start again as BeachBoy has done.

Is that a new account or a pre 11/07 account?

I was considering purchasing a pre 11/07 account but I have heard poor feedback about ccnow. How difficult is it to get approved for a merchant account?

This would mean that sellers would go directly through your own checkout as opposed to ebays?

BeachBoy 01-07-2010 02:55 PM

The one that i owe fees in is pre-07 account.
The one I've made 5 days ago is new. I'm going to use merchant plus. It takes about 2-3 days to get approved and then you fax it to ebay. After that when a buyer wins, he will be taken to a ebay checkout using merchant pluses Authorize.net. Your funds go straight to your bank account.

There is nothing suspicious about it, its quite easy and you never have to worry about paypal ****ing you up.
I have no idea why more ebayers dont use it. Instead they use the crappy paypal, which only gives stress and confusion to the sellers.

That sounds great, just to clarify your going to use merchant plus on your new account? Doesn't eBay usa require paypal as a payment option in addition to any merchant accounts for accounts after 11/07

thanks for your input

BeachBoy 01-07-2010 07:38 PM

No I dont think so. I'm 90% sure paypal is not required for new users.
I even talked to Ebay on live chat and I told them what I was going to do.
They said you can start receiving payments on your payment gateway, after I make my seller's account. I'm waiting for my debit card to arrive from my bank to make my seller's account.

1 question: My bank account/debit card info and my ebay account is 100% the same, ACCEPT the address. Do you think I will have any problems putting my debit card info with ebay? Thanks.

anthonychan 01-08-2010 05:50 AM

If you have never used that debit card before then you should be fine or alternatively you should just attach a vcc.

Let us know how this goes and whether your application for the merchant account gets accepted.

Good luck

Elements of the address will need to match to pass AVS, if you use your real debit card.

What do you mean?
The debit card I'm using is my real info + address. My ebay account is my real info Except for address.

The address on my debit card is the same address on a restricted/put on hold ebay account and closed paypal account.
Will ebay be able to see my address if I enter my debit card?

captainjack1980 01-10-2010 05:31 AM

No they won't see the address. But it will be declined if the card address doesn't match the account address.

Correct me if I'm wrong but PayPal can only match the zip not the address. So for example if your real address on your card is
123 Main St City, ST 12345
is the same to PayPal as
456 Niam St City, ST 12345
or use a variations do
123 Main Circle Lane City,ST 12345
that way the postal service will know but PayPal will think it's different

captainjack1980 01-10-2010 08:43 AM

As I said elements of the Address will need to match in order pass!

I've used Bank of America debit card's with a couple stealth accounts. The only thing that matched was the zip code. That being said, I strongly recommend against using a debit card for several reasons, learned here on the forum. Yes I did it, but I won't do it again. :D

Lyda 01-10-2010 12:29 PM

Hey Lakeman, what was the problem? All my accounts have debit cards for cc number...No problem so far.

lakeman 01-10-2010 01:15 PM

I didn't experience any problems, but I've read a few others who have. Paypal/ebay taking money from the card whenever they want. With vccs they can't do that, So I decided it's not worth the risk to use debit cards. Plus if you use a debit card, then it's not a stealth account. :D

I'm going to use a debit card for my stealth account. All my info is the same except for my address and zip code. Will there be any problems?

captainjack1980 01-10-2010 01:42 PM

YES.... The zip code at least will need to match.

Yea I've used debit card only if you are using a variations of your name on the debit card. But if it's totally different some how some way PayPal can request the name of the debit card. If totally different name use vcc.
