New way of ebay verify??

So about an 20 minutes ago I was setting up my 2nd listing on one of my stealth accounts. I got to the listing overview page (where it has what your fees are for your listing) and at the top It said temp. limited for verification. Went to the bottom of the page clicked continue and had to login again. Then i get a page saying, "we need to ask you some questions to verify your identity, it will only take a minute. we will take you back to your listing when your finished". I would have copied it to paste it on here but i was on a different user account and didnt think to save it to my memorycard. Anyway I clicked continue again and it said "it seems that we dont need to verify you. we will take you back to your listing. This may have happened if you changed anything in your account info". BUT, i never changed a thing. The account is about a week old, i listed my first item about 2 days after i verified completly everything on ebay and paypal (starting .99), then listed this (2nd) item tonight about 2 days after the first one.

Anyway I havent heard anyone talk about this type of limitation, or maybe I havent seen it yet. But wouldnt it be much easier to get over a limitation by clicking multi choose questions(a,b,c or d) on your computer rather then having to answer them over the phone? Just a thought, but maybe they are starting to do that being they are doing it more limitations nowadays. It weuld be cheaper to do anyway.

The gnarly thing is my account it not limited anymore and i didnt have to answer the questions. But kinda wish i had to just to get a look of how it goes.

If anyone has had this happen to them, can you tell me if the account will go down in the near future...maybe resorting to answering questions over the phone. Any info on this would be awesome

:deadhorse:

The same thing happened to me once, thought it was wierd, it was probably just a glitch nothing has happened since then.

hangten 02-14-2010 04:03 AM

Cool! Thats nice to know. I was hoping that it wouldnt go down again for good. But i think it still might be a good idea to knock on wood lol. Thanks for that reply dood!

What kind of items were you selling?

Sandy D 02-15-2010 12:48 PM

I would not list any 0.99 items on a new account.

And like above stated, depends on the item and adding in the 0.99 starting price might toss up some flags.

I wont list anything for 0.99 on any new account.

hangten 02-15-2010 01:21 PM

Well i listed a few more, i list them a day apart from each other. Since then i havent had any problems. The things im listing are not vero and are not high risk items=) So only time will tell really i suppose. Thanks Sandy and Beachdood for your replies!!

same thing happend to me, i did alot of planning on opening a new aco**** and than it was like damm all this now down the hill.... i listed vero item at 79.99 and than i listed my second item...
i had the same multiple choice... i waited about 10 minutes to do a back ground check, no luck....all i did was guessed...and it went through for some reason...
anyone else with this problem???

First Edition 02-15-2010 06:00 PM

has this happened with an aged account?

hangten 02-15-2010 06:15 PM

aribragin is you account ok now, any problems since them?

First Edition, I think this may be a new thing their doing and/or for newer accounts.

Since ebay will always pull the verify identity limitation on some accounts, I think it would good thing for us stealthers. Atleast if anything we wouldnt have to talk 1 on 1 with ebay reps.

Anyone else agree?

So in a sense it could be a good thing i suppose. But a limitation still blows.

First Edition 02-15-2010 07:01 PM

What is newer? Have you had this happen with a 30+day account?

dchef2777 02-15-2010 07:02 PM

same here

Samething happen to a new one I set up 2 weeks ago. I clicked yes and It just loaded and said you dont have to verify. They have to catch on sometime.

hangten 02-15-2010 07:49 PM

First Edition, No it was about 10 days old. I beleive their doing this to some accounts when they list their 1st or 2nd listing. Hummm.....

First Edition 02-15-2010 11:15 PM

hmmmm indeed.

hangten 02-15-2010 11:33 PM

did you click on any of the multiple choices like guessing, or you just clicked continue?

hangten 02-17-2010 03:36 PM

aribragin-no i never had to go that far. When I clicked continue to head over to the page that gave me multi choice question, it then said i didnt have to answer them. But like I said, I wish I could have seen them to see what their like, ya dig? lol

trg005 02-20-2010 01:09 AM

This happened to me! It was weird. They asked for my number, address, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, DOB, can't remember if there was anything else asked. If I remember correctly I only had to answer 3 questions. I DO remember I made up a birth date but gave them the address & phone number on file with them. That was all they needed and I was up and running. This must have been about a month ago.

FYI - this is a pre 11/07 account this happened to.

hangten 02-22-2010 11:54 AM

So they had you answer multi choice question on your ebay/internet, not over the phone right?

Thats intresting esp. on a pre 11/07 account.

Has anyone else have this on one of those accounts?

First Edition 02-22-2010 06:02 PM

I've heard of often with a pre 11.07 account. I think it's because eBay might think it's been hacked.

bansheezone 02-23-2010 02:34 PM

I just did an 11/07 account yesterday with no problems, you have to take it slow and change over everything step by step and use it to buy a few things first with no selling for a while.

First Edition 02-23-2010 10:35 PM

Once again, patience cures all :)

SteveO 02-23-2010 10:55 PM

I had that happen when using a new IP, but when I signed in again right away from that same new IP it didn't need me to answer the questions anymore. I think it got flaged for the new IP, but loging in a second time right away showed I was using the same IP as last time(which was the first login with the new IP moments before).
