VeRO - 12 months until the account cools off...

Guys,

I have posted this in other thread but I think that this topic deserves its own, since it hasn't been really discussed and this is causing huge issues on many sellers.

Not too long ago, when we suffered a VeRO takedown, you could leave your account on rest for 3 months and then you were clear of such violation. You just rolled accounts and after 90 days you could start using that account again fresh as if nothing had never happened.

Unfortunately 3 months is no longer enough. If you go to your Seller Dashboard on My Ebay, and then click on Policy Compliance, you will see that your account will be clear of such violation after... 12 months! We now have to leave the accounts to cool off for a whole year now, not 3 months anymore.

And to make it worse, the alerts in My Messages last for... 18 months! It's incredible, and I think that this means that this is my end on eBay. Three months was something that I could live with, but letting the accounts rest for a whole year is ruining my business and I just can't help it. I will have to find a job because I can't make my living off eBay anymore. Sales are a disaster and the VeRO program is destroying my business. It was good while it lasted.

Btw, I had one MC019 today, but two different eMails appear on my My Messages. My policy compliance is Yellow/Medium. How many MC019's can an account afford before getting into a risky field?

Why don't you create more accounts? I have over 100 eBay accounts. And I get maybe 1-2 VEROs per year.

I have almost 20 accounts. Having been VeRO'ed several times in the past few months and considering that after the second VeRO I start listing in a different account, I don't have much rest before running out of ID's.

I used to get one VeRO per 3-4 months. Since early february I have received 4 strikes, and all from items I had been listing normally in the past without any problems!

DONT GIVE UP YET!! Why not just make more accounts? Sooner or later a year will pass you can turn back on some of those accounts you let cool off.

Thanks for your support. I really appreciate it! :)

I won't give up as long as I have my accounts in a healthy status. But I am slowly moving on from eBay. I have been selling for 10 years this year and I have nearly 20 accounts with feedback from almost 100 to 3000+. I have lots of unused accounts pre-11/07 but all with zero feedback and if I start selling on them like I do (listing nearly 1000 items at once) I will probably get restricted or even kicked off right away. I just consider it useless to use them, considering what I read on these forums.

Sales are nearly zero during these days and I am very very enthusiastic about Bonanzle, which is bringing golden results at this moment.

Sooner or later I will be done with eBay, but in the meantime, while I search for a job and leave my eggs on the Bonanzle basket, I will try to resist. After all I have a home (including a little baby) to feed.

One thing that I won't do is keep opening accounts or use my old ones with zero feedback since I will be flagged in the minute.

The feedback & DSR system, the 21-days-hold on payments, the restrictions/suspensions/verifications, the way the company threats its sellers, the high fees, the crazy policies, the current search exposure and VeRO are already killing eBay. I will jump to my boat out from the Titanic before it sinks. eBay won't last long, and keep an eye on Bonanzle. That baby will become a man much sooner than what it looks like. After all, who would say ten years ago that Yahoo!, the big monster, would get knocked out by a very small company that soon?

You're supposed to get the accounts prepared before you start doing you're normal selling, like buying stuff and selling little by little until you get built up to the level you want. It only takes an hour to make 10 accounts.

You need to find out why they always hit you. I sell VERO items too but have about 1000 of them listed on eBay at all times. On many accounts of course, but my last take-down was nearly 9 months ago. I have a lot of accounts that I never even used since 2008.

If I had 20 accounts I could list 1 vero item on each on a 1 day auction with an average profit of $50 each and make $1000 a day by only selling 1 item per day and never get veroed. So yeah you are defenitly doing something wrong, your photo, title, description and price are probably not adding up to well.

Do not give up without a fight, there are ways around the vero!

gibsonton 03-08-2010 08:30 AM

this has been like this for awhile i had left false positive feedback when they first changed almost 2 years ago.. and it stayed on for over 12 months on a account that was 8 years old and over 10,000 feedback ...get some backup ready and also set yourself up with alternate ways to collect money once paypal changes it verification process in 2011 .
