Are they no more??

I know you need a good number when setting up a SELLERS account ..

Right.. Stick a fork in them, they are done.

I know one that works great, but you pay about 15 dollars, and 5 dollars for an additional, its monthly also t.t But its activated instantly when you sigh up for it. Sorry dont know one that is free, most I know are gone now, require money, sides its not much O.o, Gota put in, to pull out more

Grand Central. It's totally free and has better features than ANY of the paid services I've looked into. Voicemail, Webcall, call screening (can be turned off), forwarding to any kind of phone as well as your email, replying to voicemails directly from your email, call recording, etc. I reserved a number about 3 weeks ago and they emailed me back a number, and I can send 8 invites. If anyone's interested PM me your email & I'll put you on my invite list. Also, I have that phone # from Authen.tify, Inc. (the company paypal uses to confirm your location) in case anyone wants to add it to their address book to pass screening.

Do you have to use your same area code? and what # shows up?
I also see they ask for your real info thays fine but do they give you a local number ?

You can choose any US number you like; local or otherwise. I think the only states they don't have #s for are Alaska, Hawaii, & Maine. And the #s do not have extensions on them. They are just regular numbers.

And you don't have to give them your real info - i didn't just b/c I'm super-paranoid about anything that has to do with ebay.

As far as your other question, i'm not sure I understand what you are asking. Do you mean what # shows up on your caller id or something?

You can get a number in any state you want except for Alaska, Hawaii, & Maine. It's also great for me b/c I live out west now, but I moved here from NC, so one of my numbers is a Charlotte, NC number so that my friends 7 family can call me without it charging them long distance.
As far as the number showing up on the caller id, I dunno. I've never tried that.

yep you're right - but with each new account, you are given 10 free invites to family, friends, or self via another email address. So basically, until at least the beta testing is over, you can receive an infinite number of accounts/phone numbers.
