Does ebay keep a record of your previous personal details, if you change them all?

I've just discovered I have an account from about a year ago that seems to have not been linked to other accounts, and has avoided being banned! I’d totally forgotten about it. I had opened it for my sister.

I never used it at the time, so it’s got zero feedback.

Thing is though, it’s got my real name and address registered to it, and also an old credit card.

Now I know for a fact that my “real” identity has been banned by ebay...obviously.

So what I’m wondering is, if I enter new “⊗⊗⊗⊗” details and a new credit card..etc.. overiding the previous details, will it be safe to sell on? or will I be banned because Ebay will detect my previous details on the account.

Once you enter new details, are the previous ones automatically wiped from the ebay system?

what do you guys think..

cheers!

The only way to find out is to try ;) I'd say you got a better chance of it being suspended than not. But if you don't change it you can't use the account at all, so why not give it a try.

Exactly what I was going to say.

They will still link you even if you have deleated old info. If you update the info they seem to be having people verify stuff like your phone #. I would just start listing the way it is and see if they catch it. Is it linked to a suspended Paypal account?

I'd like to know the outcome of this situation also. I too have a buyer's account that has been sitting for a year. Only thing is I am almost positive I made the mistake of putting an address that was previously suspended on it. I'm wondering if I just change the address I would still have issues as the name would stay the same.

I have had account sit for months even years, nothing happens until you try to sell.

exactly! They take your money as a buyer but as soon as you start selling you get suspended. What I dont understand is why they are so eager to take buyers money but but dont want the sellers money. Stock holders should realize that the stock has stagnated due to TS un restricted missmanegment of sellers account.

Sad part is they are total Nazis.

in the book The PayPal Wars, they said paypal started working just to gain market share and they gained about all of it early on, so for a while it seemed like paypal had no real competitors. Ebay even tried to force everyone to use their payment system named billpay or something and people preferred paypal over it. Ebay didn't like that so they bought paypal.

Nowadays, paypal has tons of competitors and only has these things going for it:
1) For those who don't sell enough to get a merchant account, Paypal is spread through a lot of countries and easy to sign up with.
2) Ebay forcing everyone to use it.
3) Ebay lying to everyone about it being safe.

#1 falls as more competiting payment systems come and spread

#3 falls as more people spread the truth.

So what's left is ebay does more and more of forcing everyone on their site to use paypal.

When you verify your info, don't do everything at once, and don't start one day having all this activity on it - start slow and buy one thing, what a week or two and than buy a couple more - move slow to stay under the radar - that's my advice!

right the key is to start slow
