Slow Sales On Ebay?

Not only are my sales low, but I'm not even getting many views. I'm selling one item a day vs. 5 or 6 a day late last year.

Someone usually posts this same thread at the beginning of every month.

Some months are slow starters, because people are paying their rent and bills.

It always gets better by the end of the week. Update this thread in 7 days and lets see if it has improved.

so, that means it is best time to buy on Ebay at the start of month..

However I am pleased to report that the past 7 days has been GREAT!

It seems that Ebay has stepped up there preferred placement of volume sellers and their "rolling blackouts". Most likely your listing are not showing up even when buyer do a product search. Check it out for yourself. Have a friend or family member from a different state do a product search with the exact words you use in the listing title and during peak times you listings will not show up. It is also dependent on whether it is an auction or BIN.
So basically you are paying more for less eyeballs viewing your auction, than a volume seller. Ebay wants the small sellers gone.

April was my best month this year. May is already looking like it will easily pass April's sales in about a week!

holyhell 05-05-2010 06:54 PM

Its gotten quite a bit better, just in a couple days. But with the Paypal hold, I'm not exactly making money yet. Many things have been confirmed as delivered, but prople aren't leaving feedback.

Mine too! As a matter of fact, I think it was my Best sales month with eBay ever.

All my auctions this month are doing great. First one I put up had 14 watchers and went up to $63.00 on the second day which is already breaking the profit margin and still have 5 more days ago. The rest of them are doing just as good.

Okay is it only me or eBay sales are slow again ???

jeffweico 08-05-2012 12:37 AM

This is typically the worst time of the year for me. Things usually pick up the third week of August.

yotano211 08-05-2012 01:31 AM

Same here, I am not getting the prices that I would like. My prices are at least 20% under from normal. But I still have to go on.

diamonda 08-05-2012 07:41 AM

I think it's because a lot of people are on summer holidays in the US and all over the world- sales very slow at present for me too :(

stanislav 08-05-2012 10:13 AM

Well I dunno guys but last month was great for me. I sold more than any previous month on that account. So I am not sure why is it so extremely slow. It's difficult for me to believe that everyone just went on vacation. People nowadays shop while on the go. Internet access is literally everywhere. Even when I went camping I still had internet on my iPhone 400 km away from Toronto. I think the issue here has something to do with eBay servers and not that time of the year, slow economy or Olympic games .

jeffweico 08-05-2012 10:30 AM

Well, sales hsave not STOPPED, by any means, Just fewer of them and lower prices. This is a seasonal thing and it also depends on what you sell.

August is the last summer month before the klids here go back to school. Lots of people have BBQ's at this time of the year. Others are on vacation and just doing outdoor things.

For some schools, the last week of August is when the kids go back, for others it is the day after Labor Day. Sales pick up then and increase steadily until peaking during the Christmas rush. Sales slow down in January, but are still very good, and that is to be expected - not every month can be December! Sales slow down a bit in May, June and July and then really slump in August.

This has been the pattern I have noticed over several years. Of course, if you are selling swimwear, BBQ sets, or outdoors stuff, your pattern will be different.

The GOOD NEWS is that online sales increase, overall, at double digit rates each year. So, if any newbies see their sales slow down during the summer, don't worry - it does not mean that the internet is no longer a good place to sell, it is just part of the cycle. The internet is not a fad, it is not going away anytime soon.
