I'm not allowed to contact a bidder on my items!

There is an ebay member who I’ve noticed has bid on 5 of my items. I normally wouldn’t find this so strange, but the 5 items are totally different....ranging from a rare LP, to a kid’s pin badge maker, to a vintage toy, and so on...

The ebay member is new, but has a feedback of 22, all positive.

The member is in the USA and I am in the UK, so this would be an “overseas transaction”.

I decided to message this ebay to politely ask if they are legitimate..etc..

but ebay are preventing me from sending my message!

Attention!

We have determined you are trying to contact an eBay member with whom you are not currently involved in an open transaction. For the protection of the eBay community, we sometimes block these types of communication. To prevent this occurrence from happening in the future, we recommend the following:

*

If you are a seller, respond to all bidder questions before the auction ends.

*

If you are trying to contact the seller of an item that has not yet ended go to the item page and click the “Ask seller a question” link.

*

If you are the winning buyer of an item go to your My eBay page under the items I’ve Won section. Click the action drop down menu and choose the “contact seller” action.

*

If you are a seller trying to contact your winning buyer, go to My eBay and under the Items I’ve Sold section, click the action drop down menu. Choose the “contact buyer” action.

*

Reply to seller/bidder through personal email provider (if the sender has not hidden their email address).

Thank you for your understanding.

So what the hell am I supposed to do?!

HI- Yes, sounds strange, as I had a BIDDER able to request CONTACT info on me... I always thought it was only after the sale.. The guy ended up a pain in the a**! ended up refunding once he got it

I love it! Ebay/Paypal is under so many attacks from all sides that the site is getting pretty much unusable even for legit members. I have noticed that sales are down on all my items this year vs. last. I know the economy in the USA is in the dumps, but I think all the scams, horror stories and bad press are finally catching up. I know of at least 10 legit sellers who have gone back to there own websites for selling, only leaving a few items on there to direct people to there site.

Yep, eBay is slowly killing it self with all these harsh rules. Having your own site is the best option for long term survival.
