| | | mattcafc | 12-09-2007 02:50 PM | UK Ebayers! You now need to verify by phone to create a sellers account!!! SHOCKING! ~Ok guys, I have been able to open many sellers accounts over the years, using pre paid cards etc as verification.
However now in the UK, very recently they make you verify yourself by calling you, with an automated message that tells you a verification number you have to put it.
I thought of a way round this, and just using a local phone box, going there answering the phone and getting the verifcation number. HOWEVER, you need to use a touch phone, as they say "This is ebay, please press 2 if you're expecting this call" and bt pay phones dont work as touch phones so you can never get to the next stage!
Does anyone know a way round this, or alternative ways to get round it, as it looks like a major blow to creating seller account for UK Ebayers!!! |
| imjustme | 12-09-2007 03:00 PM | You needed a phone number to verify a seller account in most countries already, looks like they just started implementing it in the UK now too. Just get a virtual phone number, not from Skype though. |
| ebayhateluv | 12-09-2007 03:02 PM | Hi- NOt certain I understand what a bt is, but i found A 6.99 gadget that i use works perfectly--PM me. |
| Ballsack | 12-09-2007 03:16 PM | This is interesting. I wonder when they'll start implementing this for ebay US. |
| imjustme | 12-09-2007 04:00 PM | There's a way around it, but I won't post it here else eBay will fix it. Just play around with it and you'll eventually notice it. |
| mattcafc | 12-09-2007 07:21 PM | The thing is I dont believe its as easy in the UK to get these "virtual" phone numbers people get.
We have to have a number that starts 0207 to show we are in the uk, and i cant see where to get these numbers from easierly. |

| ivegotinfo | 12-22-2007 06:24 PM | they cant tell if theyre landline or mobile numbers, in my city theres a separate area code for mobile numbers, and tossabledigits/tollfreeforwarding gives out that area code only...no problems with 3 accounts. |
| starapparel | 12-26-2007 04:33 AM | any solutions buddies i am also from uk and need to verify my ebay seller account, any good service as tollfreeforwarding.com don't work. |
| hollerme | 12-26-2007 09:35 AM | I tried to do it but guess what? When they say: this is eBay calling. If you are expecting this call press the 8 key, I pressed it and... once again they asked me to press the 8 key. Then again and again and again until they hung up.
I tried to have them call me again and the same thing happened until they told me I had exceeded the number of attempts and had to wait another 24 hours.
This is just wrong! |
| mikey12 | 12-27-2007 08:23 AM | I'm struggling with this too i used to have lots of seller accounts but now im struggling to create new ones...if anyone has a solution they don't want to state please pm me!! would be very appreciated. |
