We wanted to let you know that from next week, items listed in certain categories on eBay.co.uk will need to offer PayPal as a payment option or as the sole payment method.

We are doing this as part of our ongoing efforts to reduce fraud and protect buyers and sellers in the eBay community.

PayPal will need to be offered as a payment option on listings in the following categories:

Video Games
Health & Beauty
PayPal will need to be the only payment method on sales in the following category:

Video Games: Consoles
If you would like to sell in the categories affected, please sign up for a PayPal account if you do not already have one.

Just enter one of your non paypal email addresses. Inform your buyers not to pay immediately and that a paypal payment invoice will be sent to their ebay email address on file (Put that In the sellers "addition checkout instructions" in bold also). Been working for me. Some of my buyers still overlook that and pay immediately. When that happens, it shows the payment as pending and paypal will email you. Avoid that email at all costs. Email your buyers through ebay or their email address. Tell them to cancel the payment and use the paypal invoice to send payment.

I know that sounds crazy but If you willing to make money. You might as well go through it the hard/stressful way or choose to go disappear from ebay

No lawsuit is coming. Ebay pays big dollars to political parties to do what they do

December 2007

***PayPal required for some listings***

Following on from our announcement on 10th August 2007 we wanted to let you know that from mid-January we’ll be expanding our ongoing efforts to protect eBay buyers and sellers by only allowing PayPal to be offered as a payment option on certain listings.

We’ve looked at the results of the earlier payment restrictions that we put in place in August, and we’ve already seen a decrease in transactions where eBayers have been left dissatisfied. The safety of the eBay trading environment and prevention of fraud is very important to us, so we’ll continue to monitor and closely analyse the listings where we’ve restricted payment methods.

From around 10th January, PayPal will need to be the only payment method for sales in the following listings:

* those that are set for a one-day auction
* those in the following categories:
o Computing > Software
o Consumer Electronics > MP3 Players
o Wholesale & Job Lots > Mobile & Home Phones
o Business, Office & Industrial > Industrial Supply / MRO

If you would like to sell in the categories, you’ll need to sign up for a PayPal account if you don’t already have one:

* Sign up for a PayPal account

We appreciate your continuing support in helping to keep eBay a great place to buy and sell.

Regards,

The eBay Team

LOL- Do you know that one of the Listing Violations- when you go to report this item-bottom of the listing page---then listing violations--
is:
Offering paypal as the only method??? (They'll have to update this....)
Its:
LISTING POLICY Violations, then
Circumvention of fees then:
"Offering Paypal without accepting all forms of paypal payment"

ebaysucksthebigone 03-05-2008 08:37 AM

may i ask if this is only applicable to the .co.uk ebay site or will it also be relevant to .com.au ebay site... thanks.

Who wants to raise money so that we can fund an attack on Paypal. We can raise money and pay Al-Qaeda to bomb Paypal and Ebay. Government doesn't want to stop Ebay...then we should.

Looks like someone's way ahead of you there..

PayPal: Paypal Bombed

I don't see any reason why they have to update that.
