Alternatives to ebay?

Are there any? Ioffer seems to be their biggest competitor and they absolutely stink. Same goes for sell.com. There simply aren't any buyers or enough of them to generate any kind of sales.

sycore 12-19-2007 03:24 PM

There simply are no realistic alternatives (there's the monopoly violation again).
There are few that may get you a sale or 2, Ubid, overstock, amazon etc. It would take a corporation with deep pockets, and a huge membership that makes both buyer and sellers put up there credit cards for protection, to even put a dent in them.
They best alternative if your a small volume or unique item only you have, is to go to forums that discuss the products you sell and list in their buy sell trade section. If you are large start a website, and get on the search engines.

None as far as I know.. not worth looking at, anyway. :(

EDIT: Some troll gives me bad rep on this post: "repetetive post bad" (cough** moron)

You can always sell porn on sell.com, ioffer, eCrater, wholesale...

Anywhere outside of the (From the Waist-Up, God-fearing, Homeland Security Policing, RICO Act violators, Big Brother corrupt Community of eBay) is the best alternative to eBay. Why play games with crooks?

Just open accounts on the best word of mouth sites. Spread out. Go google base. You might have Less sales. But at least there will be no hassles and a lot (wholesale, baby, More Freedom. And a sense of control over your finances. Get a real merchant account. Be aggressive. You never know. The tide is changing at eBay.
The world is finally taking notice of eBay, as illegal aliens takes jobs Americans won't do, and Americans who lost their jobs went to the internet seeking opportunities on eBay and Amazon, then for no legitimate reason got banned from selling on their sites (even buying! jeeze..), the world has taken notice, the FEDS have taken notice, the media has taken notice of EBAY'S monumental crimes selling Millions Americans down the river. Millions of Americans are being sold down the river by these monopolies.

Let's revive this thread! We need more options to eBay ..

ebayhateluv 01-30-2008 06:34 AM

Geez..
I got -0-.
The only thing that I have done any decent Volume was: Overstock.com.,,

twdell 01-30-2008 07:51 AM

hey don't laugh at porn selling. that's what i currently sell, and it brings in a lot of money. of course the people who buy from me have turned out to the hardest people to please as well. these addicts take their porn seriously!

bigrab54 01-31-2008 05:26 PM

Amazon?

Can you sell any real decent amount of stock here. im thinking of selling dvds here and checking it out.

ebayhateluv 01-31-2008 06:10 PM

Hi, Bigrab- as a matter of fact...that seems to be the Specialty on Amazon- Books/Cds/Dvds...I've been on Amazon + Z-Auctions for 3 yrs now..I do not sell any of the above, so for me..its too slow paced. But every 4-6 weeks I get a $100-$200 order..fills your Gas tanks.. ;)

bigrab54 01-31-2008 06:14 PM

you have any real idea on how many dvds get sold on amazon, searched google but nothing much came up. any kind profit would do me for starters.

topazcorp 01-31-2008 08:19 PM

I usually make around 1000$/month on amazon.ca by selling books and video games. It's really easy to get paid since they automaticaly send money to your bank account like a merchant account.

bigrab54 02-01-2008 09:12 AM

opened a amazon account about 10 hours ago and have made 2 sales which aint bad considering some of the guys feedback on there. dvds seems like a good option here. keep you posted to how it goes.

mantisinc 02-01-2008 09:56 AM

There is also ebid. Seems to be a hell of a lot of auctions on there, but so few of them have any bids.

bigrab54 02-03-2008 07:28 PM

Just made my 15th sale and thats just been over the weekend. amazon doesnt seem to restric sellers when starting up. if i keep up this rate of selling ill be selling more than i do on ebay. RESULT

koalawash 02-04-2008 12:01 AM

What category are you selling in?

DogFacedBoy 02-05-2008 12:02 PM

I'm selling DVDs on Amazon and have made about $200 in the last week there. My problem is I'm getting my stuff from the discount bin at a regional store and I sell them faster than I can buy them...wish I could find a good, predictable, reliable source to get them

do you set a decent markup on them?

DogFacedBoy 02-05-2008 12:31 PM

Some I only make $5-10 a piece. Others I have made as much as $70 profit on a single DVD. Like I said, wish I could get an endless stream of them.

Nice thing about Amazon is that they don't charge an upfront fee and will let an item stay listed for 2 months. When you're only making $5 an item ebay insertion fees can eat up your profits awful fast if you need to list it 2-3 times before it sells

Triflin 02-05-2008 12:43 PM

How about ebid?

A few of my friends have tried ebid as an alternative to ebay. I am going to try it this week. There are no up front fees and they also have different levels of membership with varying benefits. They have a 7-day one so I am starting with that so I can see how it goes before I pay the full membership. I sell vintage items such as pottery, glass, jewelry, and art. I will keep all posted on how it goes over there. For those interested they have an affilate sign up as well. Might be worth it to sign up there and then refer all your regular ebay customers to that site. Just a thought, beat ebay and get paid to do it.
