eBay's "powerless seller program" is the last step on the way to being banned on eBay. Avoid it all costs!
Don't accept it or join it. It has ruined millions of sellers on eBay.

eBay has been under indictment for a couple of years now for violations of the RICO act. The law they use against the mafia.

Anytime you agree to participate in greedbay's sellers programs and clubs, you are really flying straight into their radar like a moth to a flame.

Just keep your head low and keep selling. Or you will regret it.

I agree, it's been said time and time again in this forum, becoming a Powerseller is more a liability then asset.

Yep /////

I just ignore it! ... Powerseller is a way for them to WATCH YOU closer...

It depends, if you are selling VERO items I found that being a powerseller is good. If you are selling legit just ignore it.

powerbid 12-23-2007 03:34 AM

how can they catch you by being a powerseller any insights? aspkin theres another update.. in one of my accounts credit card has expired but i m still selling on it its expired for the last one month... if only i ever knew this before i hadnt got into the chain of suspensions previosly untill this forum guided me

aspkin 12-23-2007 04:11 AM

So eBay gives more leway for expired CCs?

powerbid 12-23-2007 10:13 AM

Other than them mailing stuff to your house, HOW HOW HOW is powerseller bad????????

ebayhateluv 12-23-2007 06:12 PM

HI-Just my Personal Experience: As a PS- you get more "Chances" when you get hits for listings- i.e. as a Plat PS- I was able to take 7-8 hits/month, whereas on a new acct/ or 3-6 month acct- 1 or 2, then you're gone.. SO, that in itself was Valuable for me..
BUT... on the other hand- YES, they also got you for stupid stuff--like Encouraging, (selling an empty box Supposedly Encourages someone else to place a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ watch in it)- When I transferred the empty Boxes to a NON-PS acct, they got listed and never taken down... So, I guess it depends on your products/Value

Pros:
  1. Slightly more communication opportunities with eBay.
  2. Having Powerseller Logo gives you more trust to buyers. This could mean more sales.
  3. Depending on your Powerseller level it takes more to suspend you. You're giving SLIGHTLY more trust by T&S.

Cons:
  1. eBay will suspend and limit a Powerseller account just the same as a Non-Powerseller.
  2. Using a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address could hurt you when eBay tries to send you information about your Powerseller status.
  3. There is risk of suspension but it is slight.
  4. No protection from T&S.
  5. Nothing really changes.

Final Answer:
There is absolutely no advantage to Powerseller status. It may increase sales slightly, but is it worth it? The only thing that matters is having the right products at the right price. Plus you will be held to higher standards than most. Really - YOU DONT NEED IT.

so far i m not using a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address on my powerseller account just a deviation of the correct address.. i will send a post to myself with this address just to check if it reaches me (it should as no problems with it ) will update.. lets see

ebay100 12-28-2007 12:20 AM

Right...

I remember when Ifirst started ..and thought good about Ebay ..I was so Jazzed when I became a Powerseller..
How things have changed ...As Apskin said ..it does give you good credability to say the least.
