Ending a listing early...
 

Will it raise a flag???

I have an auction going that i am more than happy with the highest bid, has exceeded all expectations, and would love to end it now and finalise it, but i dont want to do this if it will raise a flag. :juggle:

I have never done this before on any of my real or stealth accounts.

I've done this on a few accounts, as recent as two weeks ago. Never had a problem with eBay afterwords. BUUUTTT you never know with the ebay gods. I am just sharing my personal experiences.

Hmm thanks. :) Im hoping they wont care as they still get their take and fees hahah!!

As a one-off thing, it's OK. I tend not to repeat them for at least 3 months.

i think I just made this mistake like..yesterday lol.

I pulled down a couple of auctions a week ago, then a few more the other day. Yesterday I was slapped with a suspension for "suspicious activities."

Guess I was stupid. No wonder when I was ending the auction there was a voice inside me yelling "you're doing something stupid"

I guess it differs per experience, but it definitely raise a flag and if you overdo it...BOOM

Just be safe and wait it out. Maybe you can add best offer to auction. And email buyer to offer what he has bid. When you accept it auction ends, by the rules... But I don't know if you can add make an offer to an existing auction

I have ended a couple of items early, but that is within the last 7 months though. Make wise decisions and try your best to not give Ebay any reason to flag you down. Remember though...nothing is guarenteed!

anytime you do anything that ebay can frown upon you have be ready to let your account cool down before doing the action again. Ebay only cares about the customer perception of the ebay brand. that's what keeps people coming back to buy on the site and their revenue increasing. a bad perception hurts their bottom line. Their risk software catches and grades multiple actions and predicts your behavior. If you are going to cost them a customer or revenue in the future you get shut down. They can do this because more then every people are turning to online sales because of the economy. Think about what ebay would perceive as part of their risk grading software to cause a loss and don't do that.

Things do happen that from TIME to TIME where you Must end an Auction early, Fire, Theft, Breakage, Ebay understands that===TO A CERTAIN EXTENT==== once Maybe Twice a YEAR.


@Blackhorse the threadstarter--- Why Would you want to end an Auction Early because you were "Satisfied" with the current price. Being that Auctions generally get a lot of bids in the final seconds, would'nt you want to see if you could get more?---Now That is "Suspicious"!!!

Another thing, when you cancel an Auction you have to select a "Reason" from the Drop Down Menu on Ebay's Auction Cancelation Page--Last I checked being "Satisified with Current price" was not one of the Choices.

Blackhorse, what did you end up doing?

I've done this quite a few times and I've never encountered a problem. Remember though, that if it's a new account you don't want to raising unnecessary flags and it's probably not a good idea to be doing it frequently (once wont hurt). If you have a more established and trusted account then there is no harm in ending a few listing, I think there's actually an option which says 'this item is no longer for sale'. Although it is quite vague in the sense that it isn't telling you what eBay considers to be a just reason to end a listing early when using this excuse however like I said before I've never had a problem when doing this.

I let them run out all the time - never need that money so badly I guess and hey, if it generates Second Chances that are leads, all good the way I look at it.

I Still DO NOT Understand why you would want to end an Auction Early, When you Have and Want to Sell the item? Don't you want to see if you can get More Money? How would Bill Them?, You Could not Bill them thru Ebay once the Auction is Cancelled. If you send them a "Private Invoice" when Ebay finds Out, well thats "Fee Avoidance" and Against Ebay Policy, that will Get you Suspended.
