Potential buyer contacts to set up BIN? is this ok?

I had someone message me thru ebay saying they wanted to buy one of my items but didn't wanna fuss around with bidding and hoping to win it. So I offered to set up another auction for them with a BIN and they could get it that way.

Will this get me into trouble with Ebay?

GreenBean 08-25-2010 01:42 AM

Should not be a problem. I have added to my listings to contact for a special listing etc....double check the buyer's FB and if you are comfortable list for them :pop2:

Yeah, I just sold it to them yaya :p

Before though I asked where they were from and they are from a small little town north of me and their feedback is 1

seems ok

save the ebay fees and just create an invoice through paypal for your customer to complete.

OfficialGenius 08-25-2010 03:26 AM

You can also avoid fees by setting up a buy it now price for $1.00 and shipping price for the total amount your selling the item for. Let's say 399.00. Many sellers and powersellers do it this way.

But the safest way to do it is just by titling a listing "Private auction for...." and writing the amount you and the buyer agreed on under the description. After that you make the buy it now price to $1.00 and free shipping and then update the invoice by switching the total amount to the amount you and the buyer agreed.

I have never paid more than $100 in eBay fees by doing it this way and have done it for about 100 transactions!

But of course, like many of my posts, I wouldn't be surprised if this gets deleted. Or I just might delete it myself since I don't want to blow up this valuable method. ;)

I've had request this many times and it's never been a problem. To ease the paranoia of it being a rival check our their feedback and when they purchase check any names etc on Google.

Ha nice one Official Genius - very true.

And, on a side note, since you are working with the buyer on the side - why not try to avoid paypal at all. Also a plus not having to deal with Paypal fees....=)

Actually setting up an auction for $1 and $overkill for shipping could get you flagged.
I believe they have a bot programmed to look for that now, so be careful

@Official, only to happy to delete any time for you. Enough of the smartiness. 99% of posts you have had deleted were.......... (fill in the blanks;))

As you were :pop2:
