powerseller and VERO

Someone here said that they had a powerseller account (though they did not say if it was lowly bronze or high titanium or what level) that could take VERO violations and not get suspended. Basically, it could list VERO, they get taken down, etc. and it took 6 months of nonstop VERO complaints before suspension.

Is this how it is normally? Does level of powerseller matter?

Also if you are powerseller, but getting VERO'd a lot makes you lose powerseller, does that mean you then lose that VERO protection? I do know it is harder to lose powerseller because ebay now factors in sales over a year for powerseller, but still.

powerbid 01-12-2008 04:58 PM

here is a paragraph from powerseller page it will let you know how many violations you can sustain for each level of powerseller

How compliance with marketplace policies is calculated

To comply, you must not violate the Shill Bidding policy. Additionally, violations of any eBay policies may result in the loss of PowerSeller status. The following limits apply:

· Bronze 4 violations in a 60-day period
· Silver/Gold 5 violations in a 60-day period
· Platinum 6 violations in a 60-day period
· Titanium 7 violations in a 60-day period

i hope it is clear simple and precise..

ebayhateluv 01-12-2008 09:39 PM

Yes, exactly, so if you are running 4 PS accts, at a gold level, + 1 plat acct, you can take like 25 violations, (almost 1 every 2 days)--so gives you alot of room to maneuver..

steve 01-13-2008 07:38 AM

i think it doesn't matter if it's a vero violation or a normal ebay violation.

ok, 4 violations for a bronze ps account.
but does it mean 4 *different* violations ?

i've got lots of auctions running for the same product with similar description and ebay sometimes removes all say 20 auctions for one product at once...
the reason given for my suspension is usually just *repeated* copyright violation.

ivegotinfo 01-13-2008 10:59 AM

this pic is from my level1 powerseller:
i actually got like 2 more violations after that....accont still working, im still using it.

HI- ivegotinfo--tell me something.. (probably stupid question)--
how do you get the screen shot from your pc desktop to here? ive tried copy/paste couple times, no luck,
I asked Chris hanson last month- he implied it was a guarded secret??

imjustme 01-13-2008 12:06 PM

Just upload your screenshot to photobucket and then link it here..

ivegotinfo 01-13-2008 02:11 PM

yeah what imjustme said.
i just use my website and upload there, then when replying there is a button that looks like a mountain, u press it and enter the url of the image.

I have 3 violations in my 3 months account and I took the vero quiz, is this means the next violation gonna be the end of my account?
after how long ebay will takes the first 3 violations?

sycore 01-14-2008 07:48 PM

I would cool it after taking the quiz as you only have 1 or 2 times left before suspension. Wait 30 days and then start listing vero again.

Here is another valuable time saver tip from your friendly neighborhood Sycore.

You don't have to sit thought that whole bull**** VERO quiz.
Just go to the address bar and change the question number to 14. Answer all of the above and you can start listing again.

ebayhateluv 01-14-2008 10:26 PM

Sycore- that sounds like an INsider tip?? :))

I just found this site yesterday, I am new basically to Ebay as far as selling much, I had taken the Vero test and thought I had made no mistakes on my listings, but I got a Vero warning I could not even see what I had done wrong, my item was removed. I thought another Ebayer had turned me in as a competitor because there was more than 30 of the exact product as mine still up, I had my own wording, pictures etc. My product was a used item out of my home. My concern is can competitors turn you in and Ebay just takes the word of someone that you have broken a Trademark rule I still can't find out what I did wrong. I have only 7 feedback I don't want to get banned. If I open another account does the Vero violation count on the 2nd account too. How long does the violation stay on my record? Can I try to sell my used Bose qc2 headset again after a certain time. I appreciate anyone helping me. I was going to try Ebay as a second income as I so desperately need the money.

ebayhateluv 01-15-2008 08:40 AM

HI- Daisyflower-
The name itself BOSE, is the Vero trademark holder.
Its ebay computers , it automatically picks up on new listings with that name in it, or any Big Brand name..
Normally, you need more feedback to immediately sell a Big Brand.
- Creating another acct will do you no good, as they will link you to the first, then still take it down..
--buy some small items, NOT penny ebooks, to graduallly gain feedback + trust.
--Couple other things, I will only share with registered members..
Good Luck

i kept on getting reported by competitor of mine who is vero member. we were both selling the same quite profitable ebook.
but he's not the author of the ebook either !!!
just kept on reporting me because of his bloody vero membership ('copyright violation'). really a pain, i reported him already to ebay, but not much they can do either... really a pain...
i might have to try to become vero member myself ;)

mandy 10-23-2008 01:59 PM

Can anyone study my case?
I really appreciate if anyone tell me more about my situation:
Jan (m019) violation 1 total
April (m019) violation 1 total
Aug 15 (m019) violation expire Nov 13
Aug 17 (m019) violation 1 total expire Nov15
Question #1
why this time the expire more than 30 days? can anyone tell me why?
Question #2
everytime I got 1 violation then I will stop selling for a month, am I wrong? or I still can go until 4 violtion?
Question #3
how to become a vero member?
Thank you ver much!

Squee 10-24-2008 11:28 AM

Am I right in thinking that some policy violations are not as serious as other? I know that VEROs are the biggies but do others carry as much risk of suspension?

I got a listing removed the other day due to Ebay's 'Adult Materials' policy. The thing I was selling as not sexual in any way whatsoever but it refered to S&M in the title which apparently is a big no-no (although you wouldn't think it from the amount of listings). I spoke to LiveHelp who said that the violation may well be overturned but I've emailed the fools and Trust and Safety twice and they aint removing it - just to me to re-phrase the listing and it'll be fine to sell.

I just take the a few violations then move onto another account until the violations have expired. That way you don't ever get banned and have infinate room for manouver (within reason!)

I found paint Shop Pro Works Great for screen shots and is easy to use so much better than screen capture and you don't have to do any additional cropping

mantisinc 12-18-2008 04:09 PM

From my rekoning, the listing policy breaches you can have for powersellers is different violations. I turned platinum this month, and I've had 13 of the same violations (listings pulled for each), and not one warning or seller restriction.
