A question for sellers.

Do you guys have problems selling products because of the economy? I was thinking about selling till I remembered about the economy.. :(:noidea:

Sure there are tough times but price dictates business. No real problems on my part but I don't do spectacular sales.

jeffweico 09-01-2010 11:52 AM

Everybody's sales are down. Prices are not what sellers would like them to be. You just have to adapt.

Whn selling online, your main cost is merchandise. Of course there are other costs, and they are not cheap, but those mostly come after the sale is made.

If you were going to open a physical store, I'd say it was a terrible idea.

But online sales are still there, just not as many of them. Most of us have had to cut our price expectations and list more items to make it through. But it is still profitable. If it were not, nobody would be doing this.

Shipping is also a killer.

jeffweico 09-01-2010 03:03 PM

Yeah. My third biggest expense, after merchandise and fees. It gets depressing at the end of the month when you see that you blew through $2k+ in shipping costs.

I hear you jeffweico - add in a limitation and oh man, it hurts...

That is why I am such a big fan of spreading sales over many accounts. One may get limited, or even two or three. But overall, I know I can pay my bills.

Although sometimes I have to make payment arrangements on the cat food bill... :pound:
