I got a Pre 11/07 account

Hey guys, i have a pre 11/07 account i am about to put into use, it only has 1 feedback on it.

My question is it ok for me to jump on it selling right away (small smounts of course) with a merchant account or should i use a paypal account at first?

Sandy D 09-10-2010 09:18 AM

Others will chime in but I would not use a merchant account right away.

With one feedback you are suppose to be new to this and starting out with a merchant account to me would be risky.

Even a 2007 account needs to go slow and easy since it only has 1 fb.

Build it up and slowly grow with it.

A golden account like this needs to be taken care of. :thumb:

Excellent advice from Sandy D.

At what point would u guys say it will be safe to switch over?

rsot 09-10-2010 10:59 AM

Switch over after double digit sales - 10 or so - get some feedback up.

alright, the good thing is i have some $2-$3 items that can get me 100+ feedback in a month.

Very nice - i'd like to buy some of those for my own re-build ha

Sharing is caring. :)

Don't sell 100 items too fast. As stated above, you are supposed to be new to this eBay thing.

eBay will probably set a selling limit on the account anyhow since you have limited selling history.

GreenBean 09-10-2010 07:20 PM

You asked about other accounts, Killed, What makes this one so different? It does not.

All you have in the eyes of ebay, is an account dragged out of mothballs. Ergo ebay thinks 'new'. And that means the account user needs to be prepared for the consequences.
Grandfathered accounts by date of creation are no longer the golden accounts they were.Trust and reliability are what are needed now. That has to be earned...slowly :pop2:

ya I dont plan on running that much volume that quickly. What category plays a big factor as well, my main item that i sell is one of the categories that is limited for new sellers.

The $2-$3 items i sell are not, my account will only have those items for about 3-4 weeks until i get about 30 feedback then i plan on switching over to my merchant account then putting in $15-$30 items for about a month then i'll start to bring in my more expensive items.

Sandy D 09-11-2010 05:40 PM

Go slow and sell a mix of items in several prices ranges.

This account is great to have because it is from 2007 and if you use it wisely it can be a very useful account.

As Greenbean said, you can have a 1999 account and if you do not watch what you are doing it can be ruined quickly.

Earning your way with this account is very important.

Thx for the advice guys.. I just got myself a 2000 account with 1900 feedback that has been sitting there for a few years unused. dont want that to go down thats for sure.
