When did they start requiring a checking account
 

I had a one-month plus old account with a few positive FB's and listed a few things for sale and all I needed to do was to give them a PP acct...not even a CC to sell.
Just created one tonight and had the GC ready, no problem, then it up and asks me for a checking account. WTF? Did things change in the last 2 days or was it that there were no FBs? Brand-new account? This was ebay motors last week was regular ebay. If this is true how do we get around it other that to start setting up tons of virtual checking accounts too?

I'll try again tomorrow. A lot of times ebay requirements are like gas rationing in the 70's. On odd days it's one thing on evens another.

I went and tried to list another item and took me through the process and then stopped and asked for a checking account.

This sort of thing has happened before. I've run into similar requests, go back a day or two later and breeze right through.

I am thinking that they must have some sort of random or rotating requirements, otherwise why would they let me start selling last week without even putting up a BA or CC...just paypal. That account was over a month old though with several FBs.

Yes we already said its sometimes random. Depending on your ip and email address

IF that's the case, online checking and savings accounts are pretty easy to create. I created one within 5 minutes at ING.com

do you put the money in with a gift card. Do they have minimum balances?
