Explain this ebay action
 

I have an Ebay account that I have used as a buyer for about two years. Some time in the past I had a different Ebay account but couldn't remember the username so I just created a new one. No problems buying on this new account. I sold about 70 items last month as a first time seller. All of these items were received and gave good feedback. I go to list more and get the LIMIT OF 10 message. So I wait for the email that is supposed to come advising me on how to lift it. It doesn't come. I "Chat" with their online help and they tell me that they are suspending my account because it was linked with an old account. (Could it be my old one? Ebay certainly won't tell me). Now a supervisor is supposed to call me tonight and get my bank information and ask security questions to verify my identity. Does the sound right to anyone? Why do they want my bank account information if I don't owe anyone money. If they think I have an old account that owes money, will they take it from my bank account?

Well ebay use bank details to "verify your identity", acting on the assumption that most people won't have an anonymous bank account. So if they do have your bank details, they think can find you and in most cases it's true. To answer your question, yes it does sound right. AFAIK

As for taking money, from what I've read they tell you about the money you owe before getting you to hand over details and I don't think they would just secretly take moneyout your bank like that... But you never know, maybe they are getting even more slimy. It sounds like you think you owe money to them?
