deebee | 12-12-2010 09:29 PM | Paypal to require SS# starting Jan. 1st? Ebay down the drain? Hi all,
So I was a seller and passed up making a LOT of $$$ this Christmas due to the headache of limits..having to buy stealth accounts and only being able to sell 10 items, etc.
I asked around to see if good ratings, etc. will help your ebay selling limits be lifted, as well as the Paypal 21 day hold and/or $500 limit.
A lot of people started to tell me that as of Jan. 1st, Paypal will start indefinitely requiring a SS# if you want to have limits lifted and be able to sell more than $500 on ebay.
Sounds like no good business for me..or others. I hope I am not ruining anyone's business on here..but wouldn't that mean stealth accounts are virtually worthless at this point? We all know you have to use Paypal if you want to be on eBay.
If you use a merchant account..that's a pain and you have to worry about taxes, etc.
Any feedback?
My main goal was to give ebay one last shot..sell 150-200 items (they are around $45..so about an $8 profit for me) during Valentine's Day shopping. However, I do not want to link my information to ebay or PP. I had a BAD experience. PP asked for my SS# last year...just as a mandatory random check..funny enough...$1,100 was charged off on my credit report BY ebay! They are not allowed to do that..and I surely didn't owe anything.
So I don't want to make this an essay..any thoughts or feedback? Is it even feasible for me to ever think I'll be able to sell 150+ items per month on ebay? Or should I just give up due to all the new rules they will have in place? |
