Buyer says item not received! Need Help!!
 
Hi All..

Here is the deal.. I live in the states and I sold a pair of sunglasses to a guy in Canada. The sunglasses are valued at a little under $150. I shipped the glasses priority mail on Nov 26th after payment was received on the 25th. The USPS website says they were delivered to the address on December 7th.

I unfortunately forgot to do a signature confirmation. (I know.. I know... All international packages should have one) Anyway.. This guys contacts me a week ago and tells me

1. He hasn't received my package
2. It is sometimes hard for him to receive packages because his ebay address is also his work address and anybody could receive his package. (Why is this my problem?)
3.He would like to file a claim for an unreceived item.

I still have the customs form and everything and worried about this claim this guy is going to file. I even went so far as to open an investigation of the package with USPS. Plus... I contact this guy with status reports every other day like he is my brother from another mother. Sheesh. I am tired of talking to this dude!

Grrr... This is the first time this has happened to me and I am worried because this whole transaction is done on my "faux-Ebay account". I am worried if Paypal and Ebay start digging around that they will find me out. Plus... I am worried I will be out sunglasses and the 150 bones. Any advice would be great!!

if ups website tracked it, so far as to say it was delivered, give ebay the tracking number and they should see it too. as for signature, if would be helpful and you may lose cos of this, but as you say, if ups say it went to correct address, even if work collegue had signed it wouldnt be your problem, give it a try, escalate clim yourself and give tracking. another tip if you do it quick is to send another similar weight package to him with tracking, he can sign for a thank you card in a big box ha ha

You have tracking info - you should be covered in terms of material support for the transaction.

Thank you! It finally worked out today. I called Ebay directly over the phone and told them what happened. They transferred me to Paypal and they were nice as can be and closed the case for me. Thanks for all the help. It is so nice to know there are people to talk with (Like you two!)

How did you snd it without signature? And still have tracking?? Afaik only canada can send stuff beach with deliver cinfirmation? Is either registered or ems. Or there is no tracking right??? He did say priority usps...how did you see it was deliveres without ems or registered?

And card idea failed for me. charge back loat even with proof of signature

I sent the item priority mail and the customs form gave me an automatic tracking number. It is at the top of the slip of the customs sheet.

Here is what I found out about Ebay from a rep that I talked with. This how to win with the Ebay seller protection program.

1. Any item declared under $250 on an international customs form doesn't require a signature from the buyer. (This is for Ebay's Seller Protection Program) So if you send an item worth $250 or more it does require a signature, otherwise it does not.. This is according to Ebay's rules.
2. You have to send the package with in 2-3 business days after the funds were received.
3. A tracking number has to be provided.
4. The tracking number has to say the item has been delivered.

as long as your goods reached his paypal address and signed by the address people,you will get win if he open an dispute for unreceive items .This is his responsibility for giving the right and safe address to get the goods,he should find out who got the package himself .I am sure paypal will know this simple rule and get you win once the dispute is filed.

So do not worry ,just go ahead doing more business ,this is small trouble in your business life .Never give up whatever happen ,where there is a will,there is a way.

Again. that LG or whatever it starts out with isn't tracking, that's just the customs #, can you actually see if an item was delivered on the canadian website with the customs #? i know for a fact in USA once the item is processed the first time, that customs # is never again scanned into the system by the USPS... But does it in canada? If so, that's something to think about for me. I send all canadian 1ST class w/customs. But, i never track them because like i said...

No. Only real tracking is scanned. The customs number doesn't show anywhere

so then this person actually sent it ems or registered.both require a signature for delivery afaik

though my ems I never sign for in my name. they ask for last name and I just say whats on pCkage eg.. frank n beans. never ask for id.
