urbanwear 02-05-2008 04:34 PM

i m definitely in this boycott... this forum must wake up.. its time to stand up against ebays unjustifiable policy.. if we were looking for a chance to teach ebay a lesson now this is the one.. BOYCOTT IN EVERYWAY AND FULL SWING.. SUPPORT THE STRIKE.

MasterChief 02-05-2008 07:44 PM

Call me the forum Cynic...but the more sellers that boycott, the more incentive for some to NOT boycott (while claiming to boycott) to get the added business. Basic Economics and all that.

Looking to other sites is always a good thing though.

Boycotts won't work. Ebay is so big and such a huge monopoly what incentive do they have for reversing a policy change? So they lose a little money. Do you realize how much money they've lost from ousting sellers with their new policies? This hasn't changed the way they do business.

ebayhateluv 02-05-2008 08:39 PM

Whats their stats..like 2 Million New listings/day....??
x $3 = $6 Mill/day cash in a Virtual Business, no INventory...

sycore 02-05-2008 08:58 PM

You guys really do not understand how monopolies work. They will just make up the money when you relist the week after. Ebay will not even notice the a boycott. Just continue to screw paypal and ebay over as much as you can, and enjoy some quiet satisfaction. Use one of your spare VCC to register 10 buying accounts and f up some powersellers, if you want to get a little justice. Each person you piss off might not come back.
The only thing Ebay/Paypal fears is Department of Justice inquiry, so contact your states attorney general with all their underhanded practices and maybe someday the DOJ will finally do their job.

I don't think it will really help to boycott for one week. Maybe a long strike but not for a week, they wouldn't even notice, their too big.

powerbid 02-06-2008 07:01 PM

i have been reading other boards as well and yes the responce is immense about this boycott... most of the sellers are concerned about new feedback policy that ebay is trying to implement which makes sellers defenseless as they can only leave a postive feedback no negative or neautral...man this just doenst make sense..

Chris Hanson 02-06-2008 07:45 PM

Yeah I can see it now after the week of boycotting. Ebay at all time high.... Millions of sellers list in 1 day

Its not about hurting ebay, its about sending a message

This boycott is not about hurting ebays wallet. We all know that is impossible. It is about sending them a message that we as a whole are outraged at some of there new policies. This is a great way to voice an opinion.
It would be in our best interest to support this.

reasoning (if there is) about sellers unable to leave negative feedback.....

Before I go on, let me say I support the boycott.

The reasoning behind it is this: sellers have only one thing to rate buyers on regarding feedback and that is if the buyer pays in a timely manner. (by the way, sellers ARE allowed to leave negative feedback for buyers who do not pay). eBay is trying to avoid retalitory negative feedback from sellers. Think of how many sellers won't leave + feedback for a buyer until the buyer leaves + feedback for them. Again, I think it stinks, but maybe understanding the reasoning behind it makes sense even if we don't like it.

The only thing the boycott accomplishes is to make the people who join the boycott feel productive. In reality, most eBay seller hopes everyone supports it! Less listings...therefore less competition...and they get a higher price for a week!
