eBay Detailed Seller Rating: Greater than 4.5

Ok, by now we probably all know this:

Quote:

What can I do to avoid having eBay item holds?
Your payments WILL BE NOT HELD if you meet all the following requirements:

* eBay Tenure: Greater than 6-months
* Total Feedback score: More than 100
* Dissatisfied Buyers %: Less than 5%

Or if you meet all the following requirements:

* Detailed Seller Rating: Greater than 4.5
* Total Detailed Seller Ratings Recieved: More than 20 in the last 12-months
The trick question here is ...does anyone know what eBay considers a DSR (Detailed Seller Rating) greater than 4.5? Say you have a 4.51 average, would that count as greater than 4.5? Or would you need a 4.6+?

koalawash 02-09-2008 05:44 PM

I don't know, but for some reason I'm suspicious that they wouldn't hold to the rule themselves anyway.. ;)

imjustme 02-09-2008 06:48 PM

That's true ...and probably the reason why they won't go into details or explain it further :(

GreenBean 02-09-2008 07:52 PM

So this is hard to determine when ebay says DSR are rated on 10 or more being
received over 12 months?

coolandcalm 02-09-2008 09:31 PM

Well bottom line is this, buyers will have all the power over sellers now, ebay is going down the tube. We all know competitors know how to open accounts and will neg you if they really intend to do it. Buyers will threaten negs because they know they can and you cant do a d*mn think about it.

koalawash 02-09-2008 09:40 PM

I think this whole decision by ebay opens up the door for there to be a lot more buyer fraud than there already is. Want to really get back at someone..? just bid on some of their cheaper stuff and leave them a neg from multiple buyer accounts. Hey, as long as you pay there's nothing they can do about it!

What are they gonna do? Neg you back? hahahaha

coolandcalm 02-09-2008 09:56 PM

Exactly! It is going to be interesting to sit back and watch all the buyer neg going on once this goes into effect. I always made sure to leave negative on my accounts the same day as they were received. Then send the buyer a "Mutual Agreement" for to remove the negative symbol, not the comment, as incentive for them to be sure to get their own score back to where it was before the neg.

koalawash 02-09-2008 10:56 PM

I wonder, since neg feedback goes only one way now, if it's even going to be possible to withdraw a neg feedback at all?

Also, how does eBay know whether or not the buyer has really "paid" unless they happen to be using Paypal?

imjustme 02-10-2008 02:56 AM

What I find funny is how is eBay going to improve the service, as they claim, if more and more sellers end up with negatives? How are they going to explain to buyers that it's okay to buy from sellers with a 95% positive?

mantisinc 02-10-2008 07:26 AM

This really is rediculous.

I thought payment was only being held for seller with bad reputation, or for certain purchases. But for those with under 100 feedbacks, and 6 months? Wow...

imjustme 02-10-2008 12:09 PM

Yep, and according to eBay those with less than 100 feedback and younger than 6 months are less than 5% of all eBay users. Riiiiiiiiiiiight.

ebayhateluv 02-10-2008 12:14 PM

So, Basically, the Power Seller criteria... I know its been said,no..
BUt, I have a Funny Suspicion, when everythings said + done, Power sellers will be the only ones safe?? Just my thoughts..
_IF anyones ever been to one of their summer meetings.. they stress that the power sellers will prevail, that the PS will dominate..etc.etc..

--BTW-- they give chap freebies away, plastics, but they also use it to sell their own Ebay mdse, like jackets, coats etc. they have tables set up ..

ebayvictim 02-10-2008 10:43 PM

Even their power seller requirements are a joke. No matter what they say...I've reached powerselller status on 3 accounts within 30 days and below their dollar amount. I think they project it and go ahead and send you that COOL certificate in the mail with Meg's sig if they think you're headed in the right direction. LOL

thelizardking 02-11-2008 04:10 AM

when do they hold the funds? after you withdraw or when the payment comes in?

imjustme 02-11-2008 11:33 AM

BIG UPDATE

I spoke to eBay today and they told me the 4.5 is an AVERAGE.

twdell 02-11-2008 12:28 PM

i'm not getting this whole funds being held thing. are they holding paypal payments? anybody who sets up a new ebay account will have their payments held until they reach 100 feedbacks or 6 months selling?

mantisinc 02-11-2008 12:32 PM

So, I don't quite understand. Is it the fact that if our DSR are below 4.5, then UNLESS we are either:

* eBay Tenure: Greater than 6-months
* Total Feedback score: More than 100
* Dissatisfied Buyers %: Less than 5%

our funds will be held. So, even if we are a brand new user, with say, 10 feedbacks, but our DSR is over 4.5, will our payments still be held?

imjustme 02-11-2008 01:44 PM

Yep. But if you have over 20 feedback AND 4.5 or higher, they won't be held.

thelizardking 02-12-2008 03:30 AM

when are the funds held?

mantisinc 02-12-2008 04:31 AM

So, I am guessing the payment checkout is going to change? Or, will these changes be through paypal alone?

imjustme 02-12-2008 05:47 PM

Modee,

that may work for US eBay users. But in every other country you are required to accept PayPal as a payment method, even if you have your own merchant account. They won't even let you list unless you accept PayPal.

tylamay 10-27-2010 11:58 AM

well i got over 200 feedback on my account and the last 2 weeks have been a nightmare for me, they stop me from selling because iam below the the selling rate but before this happen i would to say when i was selling then where holding my funds for 21 days and i had over 200 feedback but they wasnt about 2month ago, all this ebay changed is doing my head in, i can see ebay going down the pan soon, i think we all should do somat about this new dsr and try put a stop to it, would be great if ebay was still like 3yrs ago, but has seller it only take one or two buyers to ruining you business and that the dangerous thing
