How much does it cost to sell items on eBay
 

Hey guys ,

I have calculated that the total cost of selling items on eBay is between 35-44% of the sale price. This is not just eBay fees, but taking into consideration currency exchange, charge backs etc.

Check it out and let me know if u agree, disagree or have anything to add?

I personally only take in to account all the fees, cost of goods for me to buy, plus the odd return and relist and possibly the odd letting buyer keep item for a partial refund, I have the rough optimistic amount in my mind, and it usually is fairly accurate. It totally depends on what you sell and how many relists you do and how many returns or disputes, and they vary but once you have been around for a while you get an idea of costs, unless your inventory is constantly changing which mine does, so thats another factor.

So you would say if you added up all your monthly outgoings it would be up to 44% of sale price? thats seems alot, my figure would be alot lower.

The fees calculator only tells you what eBay and paypal take. This doesn't give you a real idea of the cost of doing business. In order to price your items and figure out what is profitable .. you will need to account for all costs.. Including currency conversion, charge backs etc. The calculator doesn't take that into consideration.
