Buyer received product w/missing part..

So i sold for example a tool set, and instead of the tool being #7 of 8 in the set, she received a different #7 of 8 than what was listed...I should check everything that goes out, but apparently a part in my product had changed without me knowing. It was minute, and it's happened i guess for a month now. I just caught wind of it, and updated my listings. Anyhow, she got this "tool" set for aproximately $10 cheaper than it usually sells for. She emails me complaining, i ask her what can i do to make her happy? She comes back with a replacement well, i go through all my tool sets and i have no more of the one shes looking for. She says she bought this toolset especially for that particular #7 tool. Anyhow, i say ok, how much refund will make you happy? Or you can return it... She EMAILS ME BACK AND SAYS $8 I say well that's an awful lot. I think we'd be better off you just returning it, at that amount im losing money. She replies back a little more of an attitude this time.

Should i just refund her the $8 on my screwup or keep arguing with her? I think the smart thing to do is to refund, but the greedster in me, wants her to return so i can resell since she's asking for so much!

The greedster in us will always lose in this type is situation. $8.00 is really not much to keep your account in good standing. Refund her.

$8.00 might sound reasonable depending on your sale - and your value of receiving good feedback. That's really up to you to decide - I have granted partial refunds of anywhere from 15-25% to keep people happy. Yes I lose a little but sometimes you have to lose a little to gain a lot.

I don't see how much the item was sold for in the first place, but you should probably just refund what she wants. Since the item was technically "not as described" you would be stuck with the return shipping cost anyway. I think you should just cut your loses.
