i was wondering if people made thier shipping prices higher to make more profit?

yes they do

I saw someone selling a new Verizon iphone for $300 BIN and $650 shipping. I'm pretty sure ebay will take care of him. If you want an account to last I would say charge exact shipping or even free if you have high enough margins to do it. I had one account that I charged $3 for shipping and actual shipping was $2.90 and they left me a netural feedback for over charging them for shipping. Over charging for shipping will cost you your account at some point either bad DSRs or ebay themselves figuring out your not paying them as much as you should.

yes they do i recommend you use ebay shipping app that way there will be no problem :)
