eBay Automatic Payment
 

eBay made me set an automatic payment method in order to list any items.
What is the smartest thing to do ?

They have the automatic payment method in place but you should do REGULAR One-time payments to avoid the withdrawal.

Please tell me the reason behind this. I have always setup auto payment with PayPal.

I've never activated the auto payment option.
I've been paying using one-time payment option all this time. All of a sudden I was forced to add a auto payment method.

I've noticed this on all my accounts in the last few days, eBay now seems to be enforcing the automated payment method, whether you like it or not. Either PayPal or credit card is now required to list items. If you don't have an automated payment method on file, when the next invoice comes, you'll automatically be required to do it, no matter if you've had it before or not. I've had accounts that have been selling without for the past 3 years and have in the past few days required it. No way around it.
