Buyer wanted to cancel the order - How to get FVF refunded ?

Hello all,

Sorry for the newbie question. But I just started to sell on ebay for like 1 month. Recently, an eBay member bid and won my item but she emailed me later saying that her niece bid it without her permission and asked me to cancel the order. However, my eBay account was charged a Final Value Fee of $15 and an insertion fee of $0.5. I'm generous enough to relist and ignore the inconvenience of not selling the item and losing the other bidders. But how can I get the Final Value Fee refunded ? :(

The buyer said she has been an eBay member for 5 years, her feedback number is 3156 but when I asked "How do you manage to pay for my Final Value Fee ? " she just did not reply my email. :(

Any help would be appreciated !

4 days after the auction ends, you are able to select "resolve a problem" from the drop down menu next to the order, under Sold Items. Select that you "sold an item and have not received payment'. 4 days later, you can close this case in the Resolution Center on eBay, and will receive a credit for the fees you have been charged.

Open an unpaid item dispute. That's what I would do. Or if I wanted to preserve my account, preventing the high possibility that the buyer will either leave low DSR or bad feedback I would get her to cancel the order so you get the FVF back.

She should at least agree to cancel after all she is the one who wanted that in the first place.

Good luck

With a STRONG feedback of 3156, I would not do the unpaid item - I would trust the buyer based on feedback comments and do a cancel transaction.

Thank you all for your helpful replies.

She has not replied my messages for three days. I will wait till the fourth day to open the case.

i dont think you have to wait four days to cancel a transaction. If she doesnt want the item you can just cancel the transaction right away and then she has 7 days to respond and you can cancel on the 8th day. If she has all this feedback she regularly checks her acct so she should close it out for you with no problems

If she pays for the item then wants to cancel you can cancel the transaction the same way after you refund the money. Just for future reference
