Refunds

if someone post positive feedback and then 2 weeks later he wants to return the item. do i have to give him the refund??

inthezone 03-09-2011 12:12 AM

Well... why does he/she want to return the item?

dannyisastud 03-09-2011 12:15 AM

no its no particular item. i was just thinking. if i sell something then i receive pos feedback so then i go and spend the money. and then they ask me for a refund cus they dont want it no more, broke it, found a better deal etc.

Well, if he opens a dispute, whether you like it or not, yes, you have to refund him.

dannyisastud 03-09-2011 12:20 AM

i would probably put no returns unless it is damaged when it arrives.

even if he broke the item? so if i buy an expensive phone and my baby nephew grabs it and breaks it. i can just get a refund? that doesn't sound right to me.

ebay does not mean fair my friend. The chances are he's gonna open up a dispute, and you will lose. You can try telling him you cannot accept a return after 2 weeks, but I always accept returns.

SaiJin 03-09-2011 12:26 AM

Correct. eB + PP don't care.

This is one of the risks doing biz on their site. Unethical? yes... can you do something about it?

Just put your description and return policy extremely clear in the auction and hope for the best.

dannyisastud 03-09-2011 02:21 AM

okay thank you.

You risk the buyer opening an ebay buyer protection dispute (for 45 days). Four opened cases your listings will appear on the last page of ebay for 12 months.

HurricaneHuntr 03-13-2011 12:41 AM

policy or not, it doesn't matter to paypal or ebay what your policy is... lol

tweeteee 03-13-2011 07:35 PM

Yep, I have had this happen to me. I was selling computer systems / laptops / components. In cases where I know the buyer had messed things up and then raised an 'item as not described' there was nothing I could do and Ebay would not pay any attention. They would just repeat like a parrot 'you have to refund them' .
If you persist to argue with them they say ok, you can dispute it later, but right now you still have to refund them.
And then when you later dispute it, falls on deaf ears and you simply waste time, effort, money and stress but get nothing.
Join "Ebay Lawsuit by the People" on facebook ... that and stealth away. Since they dont leave any other choice. They are in effect monopolist scammers themselves.
