Revising item with a totally new description (to save on insertion fees)

Is this ok to do? Any consequences?

Basically I put something up for sale, and it sells elsewhere (Amazon, CL, etc.), so what I do is revise the old listing, and put a totally different product on it.

I used to do that pretty often with no problems whatsover. I don't think you can do it with "fixed price" listings though because you can't change the category...although you may not want to change the category?
