Default What To Do After Aquiring An Old Ebay Account

does anyone have any advice on what steps i should take with an ebay account from 2002? a friend on mine just gave it to me. should i change the user id right away? i would leave it the same, but by chance it is nearly the same as one i am using right now. what about contact info, like name and address? the person who gave the account to me is also the same person who's identity i am using on a currect account. how long should i wait before turning it into a seller account. it has not been in use since 2002. it only has 1 feedback.

Since you're a subscriber, read this if you haven't already. It pretty much tells you what you shouldn't do.

i've read the list several times and applied it to my new accounts, but i haven't ever taken over someone elses account before. i didn't knwo if there were any do's or dont's that were different from setting up a new account.

Well, if you start changing all your info they will probably have you verify so be prepared for that...and make sure the IP the account was made from is in the same area as the IP you will use..I personally think theres a better chance of getting linked or suspended with an account you buy vs. creating a new one..but if you can get past all that you should be good considering its age..

i wanted to use this account because of the no need for merchant account verification. it was created in another state, just over the border from the state i am currently living in. so the ip may get me.

If I were you I wouldn't change to much info on the account. Doing so will just flag it, and they will probably monitor what you are selling.

If you just login to it through an IP in the country it was registered (obviously one not linked with other accounts), it should be fine. I really doubt ebay think from 2002, you are going to login with the same IP...
