Using a bank account for a sellers account

I'm sure everyone knows by now you can use a bank account to create a seller's account but how does this work? What happens after you enter a routing number and account #. How does ebay verify this? From what I know they're not going to deposit any money into the account so do they just take your word for it and let you sell?

I would assume they verify it when taking fees from it? But require the card for AVS

That would make sense except for the fact that they give you a choice of money order, bank account and cc. If you choose money order do you STILL have to give your CC to sell? I'm going to try and add a bank routing and acct # on my next account to see what happens.
