This is TOTALLY new and OUT OF THE BLUE! Has ANYONE EVER have this happen before?????

Ok. I was selling trading cards and they are ALL authentic. Purchased from toys r us like 10 years back by my dad for me.

So I started selling them on ebay like last week to get extra money in my pocket.

I get an email from a buyer that they were ⊗⊗⊗⊗. But they would not leave a neg if I were to refund their money.

Obvious feedback extortion. I forward the emails to ebay and needless to say, they are no longer registered users. Yay! I won!

Then I get a PHONE CALL FROM EBAY REQUESTING THAT I SEND A 'SAMPLE' OF WHAT I AM SELLING (The baseball cards) to their headquarters so they can contact the manufacturer of the cards to authenticate them!!?!?!?!

They even paid for shipping!! Sure enough, $1.20 was in my paypal account to get it there via registered mail with conformation and tracking O_o

My accounts are fine: ebay and paypal....but I am really :shocked:

But I want to know: HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS EXTREME?????

This is bananas o_O

I would say be pleased. If they are what you say and they are genuine Ebay will be on your side in any future dispute. Good move for you OP

Sadly, you have encountered a bogus buyer - add him to your blocked list - do what is neede by eb ay and move on. Has your selling privileges been suspended?

I have seen this once way way back when I sold some cards - nuisance. I did what eb ay wanted but I forgot about the account ha.

Wow, to me ebay is a joke now adays even more than I thought.

remember when they always said, "we are just a venue" to everyone when it came to what you listed and how you listed it?

Now they are in the middle of everything. People having to send in samples, getting copies of supplier information. that sucks, what if you had a very good inside somewhere and the ebay rep on the phone decides to contact them for themselves.

This is really bad. I dont see how they can legally do all this. I guess that is what everyone wants to know though.

I guess its part of the game but just dont see how its able to happen like this.

You should be pleased ebay cared enough to deal with your complaint.

Shudder to think what the thread would have been if nothing got done by ebay

As an ebay seller you have every right to get their help. Learn to go with the fact it's a stealth but it's still an ebay account.:juggle:

yeah,funnily enough in 2008, any problems with cards like this meant ebay asked for 'proof'. :pop2:

rsot: Yeah, the guy was suspended, but my selling privileges are fine. I am mailing a card out tomorrow but what is stopping them from asking for something larger in the future? :shocked:

KingRay: Its just really creepy to think that this whole 'big brother' thing is really getting that bad. It seems like they want to know every middleman around...

GreenBean: Very sorry GreenBean, but this was seriously unexpected. I am very happy with the swift response from evilbay. It just floored me. I was on ebay like a year after it started and have had a few accounts in my day. never once was I asked this type of question. But it just seems to be becoming the norm.... :suspicious:

Just curious as a card collector myself, generally what were you selling, and what was it worth. I have never heard of this issues, and people are selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗ autographs of everything these days and they have been on ebay for years. You think topps, etc., would take these people down, not people listing single cards.
