Ebay 'high risk' items

So, I'm debating if I'm going 'overkill' on this one - I sell silver coins and bullions, got shut down for MC021 so I figure, lets not pose a 'risk to the ebay community' lol.

Is there a safe way to sell silver and silver items without being flagged, aside from the normal precautions of moving slow and multiple accounts - I am worried about the simple fact of 'its a precious metal, flag em'.

I was debating on padding my listings with a few other, lower profit items or just listing 1 or 2 auctions a week across 3-5 accounts or do you all have a better idea?

Much appreciated,
Grifter

what are your dsr's like in detail? that usually causes pretty much everything these day.s

also the precious metals area is something ebay looks to be pushing buyers to only trust the top rated sellers. I would think if you arent one you will have problems. I just read a bunch on it and they pretty much say dont buy from anyone that isnt a Top rated seller. Not in those exact words but might as well be.

Fantastic - thats what I was worried about. Most of it I buy the $500 boxes of half dollars and sort through for the 90% and 40% silvers and then put them up - 5 bucks for a .50 piece? Done. I also do the 1 oz silver bullions, had a couple people do the SNAD and returned me an empty box and another rocks ( weighed 1 oz but no silver, just gravel ) - I got on the phone with ebay and mouthed off, thats what started the downward spiral. ( lesson learned ha )

I was concerned it may have been competition, my first month I did about 50 sale and the second just under 100 and had a few - - nasty emails from a couple people.

I just was not sure if it was the 'get used to creating new accounts' or if there was a loop hole I was missing, such as sell 2-3 'normal' items, add in 1 silver, then 2 or 3 normal items again.

Thank you

Thats a REAL Tough Catagory For a, "Newbie Ebayer" To sell on you must protect yourself from BOTH Ebay and Buyers,,I Would look into something else.

No doubt, tough on anyone really, I dont think I could last long dealing with empty boxes and rocks. I am the type that would be in jail due to showing up at their home with a ball bat. That just me though. lol....

I agree - it is a HUGE headache, but go to a few estate sales, clear out some of the 'old mans' coin collection and it can pay off. Right now I'm at 2000% to 2500% profit ( give or take 30 bucks profit per sale after fees ) so the 50 units I have sitting in my desk drawer need to go haha. I wasn't expecting to get canned and ended up over investing ( newbie mistake,I know I know haha ) and honestly that is my main driver, to get rid of what I have and keep my wife from giving me trouble : P

Guess its time to start looking at other items : )

Thank you again everyone for all the help

I sold about 4oz of silver on my first auction under my first stealth account and got locked down for it. Not advised.

Aweeesome - Looks like I get to start hunting for something to pad the silver - build up the good feedback and then slowly introduce the other. Now the real fun begins!

Thanks everyone

Best bet is to spread accounts and why is selling silver a problem?

Grifter 06-16-2011 05:58 PM

I had gotten suspended for 'creating a security risk to the eb ay community' - i'm 'guessing' it is due to the high possibility for fraud/⊗⊗⊗⊗ or scams - again not 100% sure still learning but I have heard that any precious metals are in that 'flagged' category.

Why couldnt you just call them and simply ask why silver is bad to sell and what they recommend doing to make it to where its easier for you?

Calling ebay is definitely the best way to get a good answer on how they do things. There is no reason to be scared to do so.

They are not sitting there just waiting for a slip up in order to hit the big "suspend" button in front of them. Atleast I hope that isnt how they do it.. lol
