Does offering a FREE bonus equal more sales?

Aside from free shipping has anyone actually offered a worthless free bonus and gotten alot more sales this way? Although I'm probably the only person selling what I sell on ebay I think that the word FREE in my auction title should drive more traffic to my auctions. What does everyone here think?

i used to do a buy 5 get 1 free type of thing. i have since stopped doing that because i don't want my new account to look like my old one. but i think it did boost sales a little bit. a few people who were only going to buy 2 or 3 may have bid on the extra ones needed to reach the 5.

'Free' is a word that the buyers like. Basically they think they get something for
nothing....without realizing they have spent more.

Yes...great way to get sales and hiher bids in my experience.
