2nd Chance Offer Snafu

Recently I got a second chance offer from a seller for an item won with the reserve not met. I logged into my account, accepted the offer, and paid for the item.

A couple of days later the seller contacts me and says he sold it to someone else. According to the seller, they also gave a second chance offer to another user as well. Supposedly they paid first or accepted first.

Is it really possibly that the Ebay software would be ****y enough not to realize someone had already accepted and offer and still allow another party to accept the offer as well? Anyone had experience with this?

You can only offer a 2nd chance offer to more than one person if they have more than one item. So say someone has 5 DVD's left, he can offer that 5 to 5 different users as a second chance offer however if there was only 1 DVD it would only let him select one user to offer a second chance offer to. Seller obviously didn't know what he was doing ..

(I'm going by eBay Australia, not sure if eBay USA is different)

Thanks for the response, but I am a bit confused by your statement. You said it would only allow the selection of one user for a second chance offer. If that is the case, the seller must be a liar. Right? Or am I missing something here?

Anyone using U.S. Ebay that has experience with this that can verify for the U.S.?

You can select all the bidders for second chance so this is what the seller prob did stupidly if he does not have the stock to cover it.

yeah, He just had one item and clicked all the high bidders on the list. Hoping one would bite. Since more than one did he took the 1st one or the highest one. All you can do is report it to ebay if you want. Other than that just get your money back and go on. There is nothing you can do.
