Dial Up and Broadband
 

Say my Broadband IP is 111.111.xx.xx, and my Dial Up is 222.222.xx.xx

Normally, when I want to use dial up to get a different IP for ebay, I disconnect the broadband ethernet cable, connect the Dial Up USB cable and begin.

But lately, all Ive done is attach the Dial Up USB cable, while the Ethernet is still connected. As soon as I dial up, my IP changes from 111.111.xx.xx to 222.222.xx.xx, and when I sign off my Dial Up account , even without disconnecting the USB cable, my IP goes back to 111.111.xx.xx (all checked with IPchicken.com )

Its much more convenient than getting up and physically changing wires - I guess the OS just knows what to do.

So, question ofc - is this ok with ebay? Because my 111.111.xx.xx address is suspended. ebay or any online server cannot tell, can they?

One little warning. Hope like hell that while you're on ebay with your dialup the line doesn't drop. If it does and you don't notice it the next thing you know is that you'll be surfing ebay on your broadband ip.

hey... masterchief thanks for asking that question as i wanted that answered as well looks like you should be fine without disconnecting your broadband. in theory windows would change your ip address in preference with the dialup then once you disconnect your network setting will detect your broadband ip again... nice one... im in the same boat as you my broadband ip is banned, but ill be getting dialup and using this method too.

whome, that seems strange to me. If my dial-up drops, I get a message/box
thingy and can not use the net.
Will an expert confirm this?
