| | | kronengriffharry | 08-10-2011 07:47 PM | Existing non-stealth Ebay account take over and just change name on it and add new PP I could not find an answer to that question.
I want to take over an existing non-stealth ebay account. Can I just change the name of it? Address will stay the same.
Account is in a very good standing.
Nice forum here btw :-) |
| GreenBean | 08-11-2011 07:27 AM | Doing that may make the account not in good standing.
Why are you doing this :spy: |
| jbluntz | 08-11-2011 07:37 AM | That's 1 thing I haven't tried yet, I'm gonna try it out and see what happens was thinking of using the name Ronald Mcdonald, don't know why just seems be the first name that comes to mind, post back later. |
| GreenBean | 08-11-2011 07:45 AM | You can't! You can't. I;ve got a Ronald MacDonald account :typing: |
| bigbill | 08-11-2011 08:01 AM | I have taken over non-stealth existing accounts before.
All you need to do is keep the paypal they currently have and add a new bank account and make sure it is in their name with your account and sort code! |

Why are you doing this :spy: | First of all thanks for all your replies.
I wanted to do that because my stepfather opened a Ebay and PP account here in the US last year. He was here on vacation, he lives in Germany. After he went back I sold some stuff with his account. I sold more and more and it really worked out good.
The ebay and PP are still under his name even I made all the sales.
Now PP wants me to add a social or tax id because in the meantime we reached the $20,000 AND 200 items. I can not provide his ssn because he is GERMAN. So he does not have one. I have ssn and ITIN.
My plan was: open a new PP account under my real name and attach it to the existing ebay account. Maybe ebay will find that suspicious so I wanted to change the ebay account to my name too.
Does anybody understand my weird explanations? Btw I'm German too. |

Would this be the moment to purchase the book? But it seems to be a good investment anyway |
| kronengriffharry | 08-13-2011 09:32 AM | Purchased eBay Stealth and will open few accounts as backup soon. But still no idea what to do to find "the way around this" |
| gorky | 08-13-2011 12:59 PM | ebay will flag any accounts with personal information change for 30 days that's guaranteed. anyone who tells you anything else will be feeding you the wrong info. regardless even if the account is legit, and you just moved to a new address or something like that it'll still be flagged.
Does that mean your account will be taken down? Not necessarily. However it does put you on their radar what you do after is critical. I hope that helps. |
| kronengriffharry | 08-14-2011 12:51 AM | Isn't is always critical? If I can not provide the SSN to them they will close the account one day anyway. |
| mudrat26 | 07-15-2012 09:38 PM | Did anyone try this out with any success? |
Rather than digging out this old thread, would have recommended you make new one BUT....you did use search I think so :thumb: for that.
I have not tried changing names on an account and I would really advise AGAINST this for security purposes. |
| Mr. Invisible | 07-21-2012 09:11 AM | I've done this before, but it was a buyer account with no paypal on it yet. I changed everything! Name, email, address, number . Amazingly, I still have this account. I did do it slowly over several months and had cookie history.
It's not recommended, but If you do this and take the risk, it would probably be best to buy and not list on the account for a while. Also be near the phone when you change info.
That being said, It's possible it could go down instantly. I also wouldn't feel safe changing Paypal info. |
| mudrat26 | 07-22-2012 08:00 PM | yup I'm at the same conclusion, my aim is to gradually migrate stuff to a newer account in correct details, just a real pain as takes ages to get a new account up and running successfully thanks for input everyone, now got to look at other ways to cover arse untill this migration is complete |

Re: Existing non-stealth Ebay account take over and just change name on it and add ne Haven't bothered to try - don't have any need to change it but Mr. Invisible seemed to have success. Nothing is 100% "no go" but certainly risky in eB/PP eyes |

I still think it is a risk. |
| Dmshark25 | 10-10-2013 01:00 AM | Re: Existing non-stealth Ebay account take over and just change name on it and add ne You said they are giving the option to provide a EIN, so keep all contact info the same and if u haven't already upgrade to a business paypal account and go on the IRS website and get an EIN , it takes 5 minutes I have done this 3 times and u get the EIN Instantly , just fill in all your legal info on the IRS site and than opt to get the EIN electronically and they will give u a pdf with a confirmation letter of ur new EIN. Number
It says it's good right away to open bank accounts but for verifying it takes 2 weeks to get into the system.
I added the EIN. Numbers same day I received them and the accounts are 3 months strong since . So possibly the verification either doesn't take the 2 weeks or by the time paypal gets around to verifying it it's weeks later or Paypal knows that it takes a couple weeks and waits to verify
In any case go the EIN route so no personal info needs to be changed and ur business won't skip a beat and possibly down the road add ur name in as an employee and than later if u feel u need to than send all documents necessarily to switch the business contact person to ur name
If you first add ur name as an employee than maybe few months later u want to change over everything at least it's in progression and won't look as drastic |
| Dmshark25 | 10-10-2013 01:04 AM | Re: Existing non-stealth Ebay account take over and just change name on it and add ne Oh one important factor of course when ur on the IRS site always use only your own info, and just make sure the business name of the Paypal is the fictitious business's name you fill in when creating the EIN. It's very important the business names match exactly |
| mudrat26 | 10-17-2013 07:48 PM | Re: Existing non-stealth Ebay account take over and just change name on it and add ne this sounds very interesting, does any one know if there is anything similar in the UK, this could help align everything perfectly |
