Quicky: Safe to reply to User questions via Gmail REPLY?

Just a little quick question..
Is it 110% safe to reply to questions from ebay members via your Gmail REPLY button with a cell phone?
I have used the Great Seach button on here, the deep discussions seem to be a little old..
Guess im being a little paranoid, but with all thses new ebay/pp updates etc.. thought it would be better to be safe then sorry

Btw why do buyers ask the stupidest questions .. like for ex.. is this Brand new, when the first two words fo the listing is Brand New xxx xxx xxx xxx:mad2:

I wouldn't do it because of the whole ip address thing and the flash cookies. I would only do that with just one eBay account, otherwise you'll end up linking accounts.

Previous forums i saw that it goes to the gmail servers and from their servers to the member.. hence eliminating YOUR ip add... one of the reasons why aspkin recommends Gmail accounts..
and with gmail accounts images are turned off by default..
anyone else with educated guesses?

madmuppet303 08-12-2011 02:33 AM

I misread the question apparently. I thought you were saying if you use the reply button connecting you to the eBay account. If only using the gmail reply I'd think it'd be alright. Sorry about the previous response I gave to your question. I should've read it better.

so use the Gmail reply button is ok, as long as not the ebay's reply button? that's good to save time switching user accounts

KingRay 08-13-2011 02:08 AM

I very rarely get them with the reply button on my gmail. It just goes to ebay servers and doesnt get delivered. You have to hit the button in the email and it will direct you to ebay for the reply.

IN that case you may have a problem but if you are just going through gmail as a reply no problem. as said above, gmail shows their IP's

You might check the outgoing email address when you do though. I always get some email that has ebay on it.

If they dont hit that button that says show your email to recipient the reply gmail button shouldnt work.

Unless they changed it recently. I think it just used to say "hittheyellowbutton@members.ebay.com

Forcing you to go through the ebay system. If Im wrong please correct me so i will know. Thanks

Regardless of what anyone else tells you, if they wanted they can trace you. I would suggest you get a prepaid laptop card if you want to do that. Otherwise, Don't even reply to those emails.

I do it all the time and works fine. In case you forward your email like I do, then it will only be delivered if you are reply email is from original email address associated with that account. I use Thuderbird and monitor my gmail all in one place and you have the option to use any reply email address you have connected. I have 10.... Never been a problem.

confused-abit.com

okay,so,you get a message on eb ay.....and you get an email saying you have a message..

so you open the email in gmail.....and if you click gmail reply button it will be okay

but if you click on the reply button in the actual email from eb ay then that will cause problems

right or wrong?:noidea:

"confused-a-lot.com"

i usually manage any message from ebay and buyers while i am logged into my ebay account...

is this a problem?

thank you for any input on this matter!!!

GrannyT 08-13-2011 05:16 PM

That's good - no problems at all - but don't answer/open mail from other accounts on the same IP - think about it!!

Like GB said, without the buyers we would not be here.

Work around them as I have had many questions similar like yours and I am sure other have as well.

Headline - Large Green xxxx xxxx xxx

Green xxx
Measures xxxxx

Question from buyer

What color is this xxxx and why do you consider it to be large?

Or maybe the best one is

Do you think this item will match the colors in my kitchen?

You just have to ignore them and work with them to get a sale.
