Photoshop Alternative
 

I have seen posts asking about what to do if you do not have photoshop. There are several "free" options available. I will post two good alternatives -

1. VCW VicMan's Photo Editor - download the best image editor for photos and web graphics for free

Vicman is very similar to photoshop and free.


2. eFax - Email Fax Services.

Efax has a free fax editor and viewer. As long as you are faxing documents, they are in black and white, and the Efax editor is fine. It is much easier than photoshop and vicman.

Additionally

For Linux users who prefer KDE, there's Krita,
The KOffice Project - Krita (if you have KDE you probably already have Krita, but theres the link anyway)

which is amazingly similar to photoshop.

Also, for everyone, theres The Gimp : GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program

Gotta love Linux & the penguin. I so hate contributing to the wealth of
Gates. I find Linux {in its various hats} to be far more stable.
Not easier to use but the right price.

info! I did Gimp already. Greenbean: Agreed. However, the initial difficulties challenge you and teach you how the internet itself works (seeing as its mostly run on unix type OS systems, and the most powerful web languages (I'm thinking php) follow the same rough syntax as any linux shell commands, which of course follow the C syntax which I know nothing about, except through using linux.

ytl, I am self-taught so it is OK as you have to learn. I find that Linux does not
crash like microsoft. No need to throw montiors over the room in a hissy fit.LOL.

Going to be fun next week as I hope to have my Mac.

How's VCW VicMan's Photo Editor compare to paint shop pro?

ooooohhh Macs a froody :P Linux indeed does not crash like ms. Even when it does freeze from trying some new program, ALT + F1 to get to the console, login as root,
> pkill kdm
> kdm
(if you use KDE),
ALT + F7 and your back. :) Much quicker than rebooting the thing.

Vicman's editor has many more features than Paint Shop Pro. Paint Shop is easier to work with, however, Vicman is the better editor in that is can do more.
