new ebay users with 0 feedback

i sell alot of high priced items on ebay usually avg selling price is 200. i have 100% positive feedback, my problem is over the last week ive gotten alot of users with 0 feedback and signed up within a couple days of the auction start bidding on my items and trying to become the high bidder. i started canceling their bids and telling them to contact me, they dont even reply to my messages. i even state 'PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE YOU BID IF YOU HAVE 0 FEEDBACK OR JUST SIGNED UP TO EBAY.' in bold in the auction and they still keep bidding what else can i do to keep these types of scammers at bay as a last resort i also blocked all users with no paypal account from bidding on my auctions need some more ideas on what else i can do, im trying as best as i can to keep from getting scammed. believe thats what these guys are up to it may even be a competiter. one of them already won an auction and never paid this was 2 days ago never even replies to my emails

Not Much, I KNOW that it sucks but that is the Sad truth about Ebay

FandangoKango 10-30-2011 09:06 AM

Isn't there an option for less than 1 feedback can't bid?

nak 10-30-2011 09:10 AM

no i believe the options -1 and lower no longer is is 3 or lower like it usta bee so you just have to live with it and you can always refuse to ship to them saying they did not meet your bidding criteria you had in your listing.

hackteck 10-30-2011 10:04 AM

yea it says block bidders with feedback of -1 but seeing as though you cant even give buyers bad feedback anymore why do they even have that option there lol

SaiJin 10-30-2011 10:17 AM

Not much you can do but monitor your accounts 24/7 until it stops.
And file upi immediately when it's available to prevent the neg.

Or make another account and see if it happens again

hackteck 10-30-2011 10:24 AM

Thanks for all the help everyone

Laritha 10-30-2011 11:17 AM

Yeah I see that a lot too. Its hard to do buy it now auctions now too because there are scammers sabataging those. Best defense eBay created was the option to have them pay up front when choosing to buy it now.

doughboykilla 10-30-2011 11:22 AM

Even imedatypay wont work for people who bids on your auctions. this is only good for BIN only

hackteck 10-30-2011 11:33 AM

i'm just gonna continue to monitor my auctions like a hawk canceling their bids hopefully they will stop i also added must have paypal account to bid that wont work either

FandangoKango 10-30-2011 12:09 PM

Bid on your auctions with another account and win it and offer second chance offer hoping they accept to the good buyer.

hackteck 10-30-2011 03:36 PM

i dunno if its the same person doing this on my auctions or a just bad luck or a team of scammers or what lol ive blocked several people in the last couple hours who are the high bidder on 5 high priced items atleast with 0 feedback or 1 feedback that the seller left saying 'bidder doesnt pay' lol

GTB 10-30-2011 04:07 PM

if you know it's a competitor you should report it to ebay

see thats the thing i dunno which person it is if it were a competitor so how do i report it to ebay

GTB 10-30-2011 04:20 PM

if your suspicious,it's no good coz you could be wrong but if you know for a fact then report them

tbh i am not sure how to report this but i am sure it will be in the t&s somewhere

Melissa1971 10-30-2011 05:39 PM

Go into My EBAY then click My account, then pick site preferences, then about the 3rd one down is shipping preferences. Click the box that requires a telephone number for anyone who buys from you. I am not sure if all accounts have this feature though. hopefully this will help

No, not at all.
In my experience, the only problem is the buyers are not aware of the requirement until after they hit the confirm bid button. So it generally doesn't deter them
One Buyer sent me a message immediately asking about why she had to provide a phone number and guess what... that is the exact one buyer out of all my buyers who left a neg. BUT because of her message, I was able to be prepared ahead and the neg was removed. Two buyers i phoned already and they toned down

.

Why would the buyer leave a negative for just needing a number? Was she one of those that likes to keep the product or what?

Her neg was stating that the item I sent had reminents of something. She has a history of scamming, two other Sellers contacted me about her thieving after I left truthful feedback. her fb shows she leaves alot of negs so it wasn't about the phone number

Melissa1971 10-30-2011 08:17 PM

Adding this to listing "I have a policy of contacting all new Ebayers via phone so please be prepared to provide a phone number during the checkout process" this may deter scammers :spy:

dollarbill 10-30-2011 08:38 PM

Why can't you just do a buy it now with immediate payment required. They will have to actually pay you. Then if they are 0 feedback give them a call to confirm.

Melissa1971 10-30-2011 09:15 PM

that costs fifty cents! :D

that wont deter scammers anyway they can still scam i dont even want to deal with these bumbs

Bunneh 10-30-2011 10:03 PM

I do not believe that all 0 ratings buyers are scammers... after all we all have to start somewhere:juggle:

yes thats true but if you see a user with 0 feedback just signed up for ebay within a week and bidding on or the high bidder on 4 iphone 4s phones thats EXTREMELY suspect

t1357x 10-31-2011 09:40 PM

You just have to watch your auctions. One way I can think of is to add them to the blocked list, meaning that they can never bid again. Just search for "eBay Blocked List" and you'll find a link to where you can add them to the list. The list can go on to 5,000 so I think you'll have some rooms.

They would have had to open a paypal account and actually pay you, a lot of trouble if they are just competition looking to wreck auctions. Their paypal would not last long if they repeatedly do that or paid you with stolen CC, plus if they are 0 feedback you take payment and just never ship and then refund after package becomes "lost"

stugots 11-03-2011 01:06 PM

the way I look at it is, all those "new users" could be people like us who are well versed in ebay but got screwed for one reason or another and had to start over

hackteck 11-03-2011 08:23 PM

nah one of these 'new' users won my auction and he hasnt responded, paid or replied to any of my emails or ebay messages since he won the auction and this was 5 days ago and it just so happens that he signed up on the same day as the rest of the accounts i was trying to stop from bidding on my auctions i googled the address on his ebay account comes up on white pages but the name is totally different then anyone who lives in the household lol
