Safe amount to sell this month

Hey guys

Just wondering if anyone can offer me some advice on my situation:

I have 30 various used ipod touches to sell over 2 ebay accounts. On auction they will go for between £70 - £90 each, I want to shift them this month if possible so as to cash in on the frantic Xmas sales!

I have two ebay accounts to sell on:

1) 6 years old, 69 overall feedback 17x positive seller feedback (has been inactive for quite a while)

2) 13 months old, 2x positive feedback 2x negative leaving me with 0 :>

I was thinking to buy a few ebooks to give me a feedback score on the 2nd one then try and sell 10 off that, and 20 on the other. Is that safe? These are all genuine items and I have wholesaler invoices available if it ever came to the crunch.

Really don't wanna get these accounts suspended, but I really do want to cash in on this Xmas sales period and make some money! just looking to see how far I can push it.

I know that there is no exact science with any of this stuff and everyone will have had different experiences, but if there's any advise people could offer me on this that would be massively appreciated.

Cheers

Selling ipods you will have trouble with both accounts. The inactivity on first account they might MCO for you to confirm ID and second account, well its iffy that someone with 4 sales (2 negs) suddenly has a lot of i pods to sell. I would see that as a risk right away.
a couple of years ago ebay got hit real hard at holiday time with ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ipods, so with apple products they are very very careful.

See what others think...

I agree.
probably the safest method will be ( safest, but not 100% safe :-) )
to get few quick buyers feedback, when to list 1 item, once you got sellers feedback , list 1-2 . I dont think you can list more if you really want to safe your acc.
20 ipods in a month from acc without a constant use selling Ipods sounds suicidal to me...

hmmm cheers for the advice guys, I'm not sure if eBay UK is any different from the states, do you get any more leeway with it? Maybe I should just play it safe and try to do 10 on each account then save some for Jan as people will probably still be buying then...

BIG NONO on both accounts.

your 1st account ebay will get flags raised in go gung ho and list high risk items such as Ipods genuine or not...

2nd account i wouldnt even bother selling anything of any value on that yet as buyers may think your just a scammer so you wont fetch decent prices.

My advise - sell some lower value stuff on both accounts first build them up then start selling off your ipods gradually.

I have been selling these ipods for a little while on ebay and have found that feedback matter so much, if you start the auctions at £0.01 they will get a bidding frenzy and sell for the usual amount.

When you say ebay will be gung ho, what will they do generally? Ask for paperwork or put on a selling limitation on the account or just kick me off outright?

Business model discussion eh?

Sigh - fine I will contribute - at this time of the year, trying to unload all that is definitely a risk.

Last month I had a similar situation with another account, had a 5 for selling feedback and 2 negs, the account had been completely inactive for a year and managed to sell 8 ipods last month with no problems, so it's really hard to tell what the limitations are and it seems from all the reading I've been doing on this forum that everyone has had different experiences.

Thanks for all the advice on this, if anyone else has got any more thoughts please share!

Once this month is over I will update on this thread and let peeps know what's happened, in case there's anyone in the same position.

Go for it then, i think your answering your own questions.

But as myself & rsot have stated its a risk...were only looking out for you...:typing:

I know I appreciate it, and thanks for the advice. Will let you know how it goes, fingers double crossed!!!

When does it stop being a risk? January, feb?

BiN4RY 12-25-2011 10:20 PM

Late January I would say

skilf 01-06-2012 06:56 AM

Ok so like I said I would do here is an update on how my selling went:

I sold 13 over the 3 accounts I have, thankfully no problems at all.

Just a couple of days ago withdrew all my monies from paypal, phewwwww

It's good to be cautious but I guess this goes to show you can push the boundaries a little. Thanks for all the help and advice on this peeps.

Happy 2012 :-)
