Should I change my name to match my real name or leave it?
 

I have opened 2 ebay and 2 paypal 'legit' accounts many years ago and used an alias first name (my real name is hard to pronounce and I use my alias name for almost everything). I am so use to using that name I didn't think much of it at the time.

All my other information is correct, including my last name, address, dob, bank accts, etc.. I've sold about 200 items from $20-$450 items awhile back. Good feedback, good standing account. I've never had any problems using that name.

If documents or ID was ever requested, it will show my real first name, but everything else would match. Would this be an issue? Would it be better to change my name now or should I just continue to use my alias name?

I would imagine that if start selling higher volume on a regular basis, they would ask for documents/ID. When they do, you will probably have to explain to them why your First name is different on your accounts as it is on your Legal ID/Docs.

I am unsure, but I do not believe you can change your name in eBay or PayPal. Someone who is sure can confirm this.

As for me, my PayPal account is under my real name and my eBay is under an alias just like yourself. I have had no problems since 3 years, but I only seriously started selling 1.5 months ago.

IF you are asked to provide ID, just easier to have the matching ID ready.
