Merchant Account taking credit card woes
 

Sometimes there's a person who is uneducated and worships the evil false idol paypal and doesn't know of all their dispute rights as a credit card holder. So they're all "I don't want to give my credit card out." and not knowing it's all encrypted and such.

Is there any fast and easy way to deal with these people? And taking PayPal is too much hassle.

I generally find I have to be blunt with them (which makes me appear rude) for them to trust me as being all nice makes them suspicious, but being nice is better for customer relations so I'd rather do that if it's possible.

you lknow what. i'm dealing with a customer like that right now. He insisted on paypal and I asked him why. He/she said becuase it is the safe way of payment, and I asked him/she why again, and I didn't gert a response after that.

ebay has trained them buyers minds as if paypal is the only payment option available in the world and the buyers believe that. I didnt even want to argue with the buyers so I did a mutaul withdraw agreement and sold the item as a second chance.

it is really nothing you can say or do. I usually just back out of the deal becuase them buyers usually are the ones you dont wan anyway. they will complain to paypal about anyhting just to get their money back. They are usually the frauds and scammers.. It kind of sickends me when they say paypal is the only safe way for payment. Usually I want to tell them off but that would be a waste of my typing..It just makes me laugh.

But then maybe i should accept their paypal payment and send them brick so they will see paypal is the safe way of payment when they see that paypal will not give them their moneyback and I'm covered undered sellers protection. Dumb buyers... even though I would never do that

The thing I find that works best is that if your presentation looks professional enough, you answer every question the buyer ask on site, then a buyer won't hesitate to trust you with their money. Are you selling on eBay or a personal site? EBay should be easy enough for buyers to trust it's a real deal. But for personal sites, you need to look 100% legit and legal with all the answers for people to trust you.

People use Paypal because they have a false sense of security with it. I would trust using any of my credit cards more then Paypal. That's what I found anyways.

I found that when I switched to instant payment by auctiva that my nonpaying bidders went to about nothing.

I used to be mailing them an email (and half of all buyers have non working email addresses), sending them information on how to pay money order or credit card -- then I switched to making my own payment system on a website that was automated, but both with the same effect: Buyers would take forever to pay, not follow directions, act stupid, and then later many would back out.

Instant pay now pretty much makes them pay instantly with the whole excitement of winning instead of them dragging their feet and sometimes getting nasty, or else just no answer at all.

I also used to give people a month to combine shipping, but then people would bid then claim to bid on more and then they'd end up not paying. Well I had one person who bid on several, then they waited 3 weeks and bid on more. Then I blocked them and put disputes up. So the person turned out to be a malicious bidder, harassed me, and then give me negative feedback instead of paying. So then I shortened it to 7 days. I now made it 3 days basically to encourage faster payments and more importantly for profit reasons since I make a little on shipping and usually only ship twice a week.

I also had one person neg me saying I didn't take paypal (this is common for buyers to do). But after I put a line in my auctions saying it was basically the the bidding was not welcome (ebay has a category for that kind of bidding) to bid and say that they will not pay except on paypal, and well that really stopped people from getting too nasty.

I can pretty much debunk paypal and explain the safety of credit cards but it requires a long explanation. I'd be easier to just have some simple trick.

I think they only like paypal not because of the security of their credit card information but for the false security that they will get their item if they pay by payapl and that if they don't like the item they can do a dispute through paypal.

CPUGeek, I know that's common but I'm not sure it's all of them who worship paypal and shove it down sellers' throats.

Speaking of sending them a brick. One day i was stopped by a guy offering us a brand new 6 cd player from best buy still packaged very nicely in it's origial box. After paying about $80 dollars the guy took off and i got my 6 disk cd players still in original packaging. I hesitated then realized it was too good of a deal to be true. The i decided to open it up. After, i opened it i was shocked...it was a friking brick.. heheh good one..i was not happy with my new $80 brick...Looking back now it was stupid in funny...
