Pre-orders on Ebay?

Hi guys,

So i was browsing ebay tonight for an item an i noticed a LOT of pre-orders
seem to be about on ebay... surely this isnt allowed on ebay.co.uk??
I know its been on .com for years but i have never come across it on .co.uk
before now.
Have the rules changed??

And before ANYONE asks, I will Say NO i am not selling pre-orders lol
Just curious...:boink:

pre-orderes have been around for years. i remember when gears of war 3 came out and i put a load of pre-orders on ebay. sold them with no problems at all.

i dont think your ment to do it, but everyone does;)

others may have different views on this though

eBay allow pre-orders, as long as the item will be in stock within 28 days.

It's PayPal who don't like pre-orders.

Had many account limited for selling pre-orders!

My thought has always been that if I don't have it in hand yet, don't even list it.

I tend to try to be extra careful, just to eliminate most chances of things going wrong,
EVEN THOUGH eB/PP says "yes, it's ok" .

this has been my new philosophy going forward. buyers on ebay dont have common sense. they feel they paid for the item it should be delivered yesterday, like they were buying it at a store.

they become even dumber when they buy and item that clearly states it will ship on a certain date

More hassle than good in there... I tend to do as SaiJin, I have it, I list it... You get email asking about tracking number the second they pay for an item LOL

I tried doing a preorder a long time ago. Some kid ended up buying my auction but never paid. I had every intention of selling the game but wanted to see how well pre orders were on ebay. 2 weeks later I got an email from the dad saying that his son was "fooling" around on ebay and saw my auction. I was quite surprised somebody bought it because I was asking $75 (I think), and the game was only $50.
