Bidpay

Anyone currently using this company but selling on another site besides ebay? I don't quite understand why I need to have an ebay account in order to verify my account with them. I also hear that you need a certain number of feedback on ebay as well. It seems they are completely geared towards the ebay market and alienating everyone else. What kind of business model is that?? I wonder how they feel about ebay only allowing paypal and merchant accounts as the only forms of payment they allow sellers to use.

Aye, I've noticed Google's listing isn't very fresh. They keep the old stuff up on top.. hmmm

I've used Bidpay before with little hassle, but they did strike me as being almost TOO careful. Low feedback users will probably have their transactions questioned if not cancelled outright. I had to call their customer service number to clear on some information, but they had excellent service. I'd recommend them but proceed with caution and be prepared to use a backup source.

What is ebay new rules?

Yeah but can any of these bidpay or the like interface with ebay checkout like how auctiva does with authorize.net?

JackNoMore 05-18-2007 10:22 AM

I can't remember exactly where but I recall one successful user had his auctiva checkout set up to take information, after which a bill would be submitted and the buyer could then pay however they wanted (undoubtedly aimed at trying to get them to pay through google checkout or other merchant account to reduce fees). I'm not sure exactly how this is done, but it is possible, and you would not need to interface with ebay checkout.

If you customize you checkout through auctiva, all your customers who click on the paynow button at the end of auction will automatically be redirected to auctiva & pay you through your preference,Paypal or merchant account but you must chose yes when you sign up for auctiva to use their checkout.

You can also use bidpay on overstock.com auction. The info anyone needs to send you payment is your email address but you only have up to $1500 limit per month.Only good for small scale businesses.

Ballsack 05-27-2007 04:46 PM

From what I've read on the auctiva message boards auctiva checkout is very buggy. Alot of ppl have it disabled.

Jonas 06-22-2007 04:01 AM

So the new bidpay stalks your feedback now?

Ballsack 06-22-2007 03:44 PM

It's a good thing Ebay doesn't allow any payment methods now other than paypal or a merchant. Hmm, bidpay is neither but yet they tie their entire business directly into Ebay. lol

JackNoMore 06-22-2007 06:19 PM

Ebay lumps everyone else into "merchant" whether they match it or not. I guess more than 2 options is too much for people to handle. lol

Wrong? What have I been wrong about? Bidpay may technically be allowed on ebay but they're not a merchant account provider. No one is going to be looking around to see if bidpay is accepted or not. They're just going to see paypal and merchant account as their only options for accepting money online and they'll be like ok I'll sign up for paypal. Basically screwing bidpay in the process. I believe you really are an ebay employee because you don't actually have any useful information to share. All you do is show ppl links that may not even address their actual issues.

JackNoMore 06-23-2007 08:14 AM

And even then, only with a tracking number.
