Ebay pictures.

Can you download pictures off the internet and upload them on to ebay? Or does ebay prefer you taking your own pictures?

I usually take my own pictures, but my camera sucks. I do see a lot of people using downloaded images though. What should I be doing?

It would depend on the copyright I guess, just because they are showing in google images does not mean they are free to use and reproduce.

I'm afraid you'll either have to design your own or use images off the net and check the permissions.

I personally have a great camera + a huge white sheet just for taking images!

Yeah alot of people do just copy the image of google images but this may land them in trouble with the owners later on - why take the risk? ask permission if you really want an image!

Good luck.

its always better to use your own pictures

DO NOT USE ANY PICTURES FROM THE INTERNET ESPECIALLY FOR ANY STEALTH ACC

images contains meta tags where ebay knows when its taken in some cases where it has been taken and computer information so if you want to use images from the internet you simple need to remove that tags from it

my suggestion would be simple use IrfanView its a very small program

open the image than choose save as and uncheck

keep original EXIF data
keep original IPTC data
keep original JPEG comment

and CHECK
reset EXIF orientation tag

Just take a few seconds to take your own pics, and you will avoid all the hassle. One of the main causes of issues on ebay is laziness.

Yes for all reasons stated above.

Also because you don't want to blend in with all of those other people that have crappy listings with all the same pictures. Great way to have your listing get lost in the clutter.

Thankful 03-19-2012 04:23 PM

Yeah also forgot to mention reset EXIForientation tag.

If you do not know what you are doing you are just asking for trouble.

Buy a better camera, it will save you money in the long run.

After I clean the pic. Can i email it to my self and all the data still be clean?

UnderBites08 03-25-2012 09:46 PM

Just curious about this one

Omgoozle 03-25-2012 10:02 PM

Metadata is erased by taking a screenshot of the jpeg and pasting it into paint and saving it as a new file.

when you see a photo you like you just tap print screen button on your keyboard, paste the screenshot to Paint. Then crop it out and save as JPG. no metatags will be stored.

Do not use pics you find on the web ever. This leads to closed auctions and MC019s, I know from experience. Also chances are someone has used that picture before as well. Take your own pictures and use them.

I think this would be the fast and most efficient way. :ranger:
