Question about creating my eBay account..

I use my phones wifi hot spot to get internet, every time I disconnect it and reconnect it I am able to get a new IP address It is pretty much the same as the Sprint MiFi everybody has been using on here. The only problem I am dealing with is I live in Washington state and I did a "IP Address Lookup" and it showed I was based in Los Angeles, California. Does it matter that my IP shows I live in LA or should I start making my future stealth accounts in the LA region?

rsot 04-20-2012 05:00 AM

Start with LA region - as you get better try a few out of state and see what happens. Just build your accounts - should be fine.

wizardhat 04-20-2012 11:02 AM

So your saying I should create my stealth accounts in the LA region because my IP shows I am from LA even though I live in Washington State?

jrvs 04-20-2012 01:16 PM

^^ yes that is what i usually do.

I also use wifi says im in a different province.

My sprint IP shows up as brooklyn NY, I have 4 accounts I log into with the phone, I'm in NJ, and thats where all the accounts are registered, close enough for me.
sprint and boostmobil (owned by sprint) offer unlimited data (verizon and at&t put a stop to tether software downloads from the app store, and the they're phones must be rooted to run the software now, plus the extra data usage), so I tether the phone to the pc with pdaNet.
the boostmobil service works great, and you can get a g3 for less than 150.00 with unlimited service for 55.00 a month, plus shrinkage. after my next billing cycle my monthly bill will be down to 40.00 a month.

once in a while I get an ip that shows up as Kansas city, I always reset the
3g when that one comes up.
To complicate and simplify things, my ip's come up as
42.17.60.187 account 1
**.**.61.*** account 2
**.**.62.** account 3
**.**.63.*** account 4

the 3rd set in the IP will always be one of these 4 unless its from KC.
the last set will always change.

takes a few times to get them to come up, and get frustrating when it takes up to 4 or 5 minutes, but I like to play it safe and not mix IP's between accounts

Is this with tethering the phone?
Oh, you mean there are just a handful of IPs that you will get and you just have to off-on 3G till you get the IP you want?

I thought the phone would give a new IP every time it was reset, as in different every single time (only sometimes same by coincidence).

Yes, thats with tethering, or anytime the 3G is online.

the first 2 sets of numbers in the IP will always be the same,
example 13.45.**.*** - they will always start with 13.45

The 3rd set of numbers in the IP will always be 60/61/62/ or 63
the last set in the IP will always be different.
13.45.62.*** or 13.45.60.***

this is how it is on my sprint network here in NJ, dont know about anywhere else.

and yes I get a new # everytime I off-on the 3G. but they will repeat.

I see.
Good info.
So you just log on log off until they give you the number you want?
This could take quite a while isn't it?

It doesnt take that long, usually just a couple times.
I do get frustrated when trying to hit a certian IP, and it take a few minutes :tears:

As long as your registered address is within 50 miles of the mobile IP location you're fine.

rsot 05-01-2012 10:33 AM

@Mr. Invisible - a good simple approach but you could be even farther and work fine IF you operate well.

I'm about 85 miles, no problems yet - 4 accounts going on 5 months. strictly tether with those 4.

the other 2 accounts I use cable modem and router mac addressing, 1's a seller account, the other a buying only (its limited -actually 4 are limited and 2 suspended, but thats another story)
