money 4 nothing?

is there a way i can sell an item once it sells can i then buy the item that i have been watching on either ebay Canada or amazon

Thankful 05-08-2012 04:38 PM

What do you mean?

Like a dropshipping sort of thing?

Didn't really understand nothing.

teamjellybean 05-08-2012 04:44 PM

like find an item either i can buy cheaper resell it or from another ebay outside usa and have shipped to buyer. with the exchange rate difference

slokor 05-08-2012 05:00 PM

Do you mean you will be selling an item you are not in possession of - THEN once youve sold it youll buy the item youve already sold on either ebay or Amazon.
Is this what you mean?
Sounds like a lot of trouble. I dont see how the exchange rate margin would be sufficient to justify the risks involved. Sounds like it could be difficult cause youre a middleman and you cant control the seller of the item and as a result YOU could end up getting the negative feedback and dispute if anything along this chain goes wrong.

The (monetary, reputational & time) costs & risks outweigh any perceived benefits.:smash:

This whole thing will fall apart before you've even begun.

Are you kidding? When people buy an item these days, especially from a USA seller, they expect to have it in a few days. Not in the time it takes to have an overseas seller ship the item to you and then you forwarding it on to the buyer.

I see tons of negative feedbacks for slow shipping times at a minimum.

Also, you are listing someone else's item. What if you sell the item, only to find out the other seller has already sold it? eBay does not really like cancelled transactions, so in volume it would hurt you.

If an item is used, it is especially dangerous as people tend to overstate the condition of their items. I've purchased DVD's as "like new" that had scratches the size of ditches in them and cracked cases to boot. Sometimes, even a "new" book has creases in the cover or someone wrote their name on the inside flap.

Your plan has the advantge of not having to have any money invested in inventory, but you will have to spend a lot of time dealing with angry customers wondering where their items are, or why that supposedly "new" item you sent to them is obviously used.

There really is no free lunch.

When I read the title of this thread, the first thing that came to mind was "scam."

But yes, if you don't own the item and aren't drop shipping, then you are selling someone else's item.

Money 4 nothing

Kicks for free

And kicked right off ebay you will be with that business disaster of a plan :violin:

Think of that as a really bad case of playing dominoes

there are actually items you can buy on one and sell on the other for a good profit. for years i bought a certain dvd from ebay for $15 each that i sold on amazon for $100 and i just recently found books that i can buy on amazon for $7 and sell on ebay for $20. but its best to have the items in hand.

It is one thing to buy an underpriced item to re-sell it, that is just being smart. But we have had people come up with the idea of listing items from other sellers and only buying them if they make a sale. And that is VERY problematic.

Also, these same people often want to have the person they buy from ship directly to their customer, so they won't have to pay for any additional postage. A week later, when they get the message from their buyer throuigh eBay/Amazon demanding to know why the condition is different than described and wanting an immediate refund, they come back for advice on how to deny the refund request since if they honor it they will lose money.

They howl, scream and yell about how unfair it is, and how they really cannot afford to give the refund. Later, they are HORRIFIED and FLABBERGASTED that PayPal/Amazon granted the refund request and wonder how they can sue them. Then, they are DUMBFOUNDED when their account is closed and rant and rave about how unfair eBay/Amazon were to them, since they were, of course, not to blame for what happened....
