xbox 360 risk

i wanted to sell xbox 360 but i was wondering if they were high risk they are gonna go for about 150-200 a piece

BigCJ 06-17-2012 12:53 AM

always a risk. Even more so on a new account.

seanjohn 06-17-2012 12:57 AM

damn are all electronics risky

slapped 06-17-2012 01:05 AM

A NEW XBOX for $150.00???? Yea,,,Thats Risky,,,Seem like there are a LOT of Trucks Dropping XBOX's around your Way,,,

MM78 06-17-2012 01:05 AM

On new accounts, yes. It's mostly the reason that you aren't a trusted seller with that type of item. Do you plan to sell many of the Xbox?

Wait, where is this truck and how can I get them to drop some at my house? lol.

Was that that truck that ran over them & they broke?

Or is that the other truck where they have all the phakes :behindsofa:

Regardless === :rip:

:pound:

seanjohn 06-17-2012 01:08 AM

lmaoooo they refurbs

MM78 06-17-2012 01:13 AM

Refurbs, that's even riskier I think. Might want to sell 1, wait for any complaints and maybe try to sell another one, but it can be very risky.

Good luck to your endeavors.

You ave a lot of work to do if you think selling BRANDED items for $150-$200 on brand new accounts is going to be easy breezy... :boink: :faint:

Javelin 06-17-2012 02:56 AM

Sell 2 or 3 Xbox 360s during your first month (spread out in weeks),
and make up the bulk of your sales selling legit 2nd hand or New 360 games and accessories.
Build up your feedback and wait for your account to age.
Then when the time feels right, list at least 1 more Xbox 360 per month.
Just becareful and do things slowly.
As long as you can prove you have the units and other stuff, you'll be fine.
Be sure to keep your customers happy and do not ship your units overseas.
There are no "⊗⊗⊗⊗" 360s, the only thing eBay dislikes about selling consoles
is if your selling "modded" or "hacked" ones. Especially Jtags, Jailbreaked and RGHs.

I know this, cause I sell 360s, Wiis and Ps3s locally in my hometown.

Ebay also has a Big Problem with Stolen XBox's,,,or, for that matter ANY Merchandise,,that is what I was alluding to in my post above,,,In Fact The One thing Ebay has ALWAYS Strived to AVOID from it Earliest Days is being a site where Thieves could convert their ill-gotten gains into cash,,,

The wholesale price of these items is NO Secret, nor are the markups,,,yes a few can become available at a lower price because of Liquidations, Ch 7 Sales, ect, from time to time, but NOT too Many. Ebay Knows that a Long Steady Supply of Certain Items at LOW Prices VERY Likely has its roots in some sort of crime.

The new xbox 360 consoles will be $99.99 very soon.

This is VERY True, Microsoft is clearing inventory for the New System,,,But NOT Yet,,,if the OP has some sort of "IN" at microsoft, that "IN" is NOT Selling Him Super Discounted Xbox's Now, but more likely tossing him a few Xbox's "On the side"

Red X 06-17-2012 10:21 AM

Everyone thought that Microsoft would announce the new Xbox 720 this year at E3, but that didn't happen. They will officially announce it next June In 2013. We should then see Xbox 360 console price drops during the Fall/Holiday season of 2013, since the new xbox won't be coming out until Holiday 2013-2014, this is just my guess.

The $99 xbox that I was referring to will be coming out by this fall, but there's a catch. It's $99.99 on a 2 year contract, comes with a 4gb xbox 360, kinect, and 2 years of Xbox Live, so in the end you'll still be paying more than someone paying out of pocket for a 360 without a contract. There's always a catch.

Off topic, but we will see Nintendo Wii console prices drop this year, since the Wii U will be released this holiday season, which has already been revealed & confirmed, so the OP & us could look forward to that.

seanjohn 06-17-2012 11:42 AM

so im guessing i should do accessories to besafe

unkown5454 06-17-2012 11:43 AM

The $99 thing already happened. That's not new.

Indeed.

Look to other items that will let you get that account working & maturing.

Go easy on what you try to sell until you get established.

Good Luck :)

newjerseymax 06-17-2012 12:34 PM

I never thought of refurbished more risk on eBay then used. Just more likely to get complaints. People expect it to be like new. One scratch or din and that's it.

Not really. PS3 and Xbox accessories are also highly coun.ter.feited. So, don't get too excited with accessories either.

Sell4more2 06-17-2012 07:29 PM

If you sell it as Refurbish or Used you won't have any problems. I have sold them months back on new accounts same day I opened them without any problems. But then again this is from my testing. You can try you have nothing to loose. It's always easy to open a new account. :) good luck!

Mr. Invisible 06-18-2012 09:51 AM

I sold a Vuitton purse for my sister on a new account (testing what was possible). So, selling 1 used X-box on a relatively new account is not that big a deal, IF you supply tracking and get no complaints.

Re-list that exact same item multiple times in a week, pull out money as fast as possible and that account is done.

elitepowersales 06-19-2012 02:10 PM

That $99 dollars new, with a 2 year LIVE contract at the inflated price of $65/year. Also, you can get refurbs of the base 4GB model for $150.

Sandy D 06-21-2012 06:21 PM

I sell them when I find them at yard sales and have had no problems.

Just make sure you emphasize they are used etc.

Ayusaga 06-21-2012 09:41 PM

Yeah, it's a risk, but depending on what you sell BEFORE you sell that, you can sell it without incident. Just make sure before you spend the money that your buyer has received the item AND you have the tracking number listed on BOTH ebay and paypal. It also wouldn't hurt if the buyer left positive feedback too. Paypal has no problem with the buyer having received the item and is happy with it, and you spending the money after they have that on record.

AmazonStealth 06-22-2012 04:14 AM

No not a risk.

jbluntz 06-22-2012 04:55 AM

Yeah, xbox is not much risk, I've sold them before, used ones as well as plenty of games. Reminds me I just might have to turn on my xbox, thanks to this post.

Sandy D 06-22-2012 09:38 PM

The only time I can remember having an issue is when I found one at a yard sale new in the box never opened and listed it as new. Next time I will list it as used one time or something and still mint condition.

jeffweico 06-23-2012 12:02 AM

As Slapped mentioned, any time an individual seller has a steady supply of a hot selling brand name product at prices below the normal wholesale cost, eBay will know that something is up - that the items are most likely counterfeit or stolen.

The fact is, even if you could get together enough money to buy 1,000 X-Box's, that order still could not even come close to what Wal-Mart sells in one week.

The only time this COULD happen is when a new model comes out and the older ones are sold as closeouts. But by then, the older models are not all that popular anymore.

One of the big myths of wholesale is that there is some magical source of cheap name-brand products that will enable you to have the lowest price on eBay, below what Wal-Mart could buy it for. Everyone is looking for that. But,like Santa Claus and Bigfoot, everyone has HEARD about them, but nobody has actually SEEN THEM. They do not exist.

If you want to build a LEGITIMATE online business, you have to find a niche, or several niches. Buy a closeout deal of sweaters in July when nobody wants them and list them for sale in October. Look for undervalued used items. Find a non-branded alternative (but not a knockoff) to a popular but expensive branded product. Something along those lines.

GreenBean 06-23-2012 02:53 AM

:pout: I have seen Santa Claus.

He gave me Easter eggs

slapped 06-23-2012 09:31 AM

A LOT of poster here seem to think that Selling XBOXES at Below Wholesale Prices is NOT Risky,,I ASSURE you it is,,,

Yes Ebay will Not bother you if you sell a Few at Below wholesale prices, 1, 2, maybe even 10 within a Short period of time,,,Look Ebay KNOWS what the Wholesale price is, and they also know that anyone can find a few at a Liquidation or bankruptsy sale,,,but if you think that you are going to have Sustained and Constant sales of 40, 50 or More Xbox's without Ebay Taking Notice,,,You are Outta your MIND,,,,

First off whoever or whatever your source is, I GUARANTEE will NOT Last Long, and as for Ebay, They WILL Look into it for 2 Reasons:

(1) They do NOT want a buyer to have some sort of problem when they go to register their Xbox

(2) Ebay will Protect their Big TRUSTED Sellers (Like Best Buy, Tiger Direct, ect, ect) who WILL Tell Ebay that what you are doing is IMPOSSIBLE

So Go ahead and sell 50 Xboxes for $150.00 in a Month and let us Know how you make out,,,

unkown5454 06-23-2012 01:11 PM

Excellent post slapped and jeffweico. These were the original points trying to be made in the beginning because it's clear to see what the OP is really trying to do here........ :boink: :boink:

slapped 06-23-2012 02:08 PM

Here is a little more food for thought on this thread,,,

Just in case that you think that you are the ONLY person who has come up with a "Workaround" for this new Promotion that Microsoft has for this $99.00 Xbox, where you think that you will be "tricking Microsoft into sending you an Xbox for $99.00 and then you Resell for less than the $199.00 price tag on Ebay or Amazon,,,Think AGAIN,,Countless Lowlives got the VERY SAME Idea at the Very same time ALL Over the PLANET,,and there is NO DOUBT that Microsoft, Ebay, Amazon, Paypal, ect, ect, are "ON IT",,,,

Now if you still want to Risk it,,well,,all I can say is Good Luck
