Never sold on ebay need advice
 

I am selling a stereo system on eBay and need some advice. I already have a guy who wants to buy out right away once I post my ad.

The buyer will have to pay for shipping which is about 35lbs. Should I take the whole package to the post office first to get the dimensions, accurate weight, and price of the packaging first? Then put that on the total buy out price?

My eBay is set up, it's a pretty old account. I don't have a Paypal though.

Heard some pretty bad horrid stories about Paypal.

I assume I have to hook it up to my bank account. How much of a cut does Paypal and eBay get off my sale?

Should my Paypal account name have my real name in it? Or can be it something like coolguy999999x@paypal.com

Any other advice on my first sale would be great. Hopefully more to come.

You really need to read more on the forums because you are asking so many questions.

I would not sell to him off ebay since this account is new.

How was you planning on getting paid?

I dont have the knowledge about your country but it confuses me when you list something on eb and do not have a plan on how to get the money.

I found this forum on google after reading the eBay faqs. Seems like there is a lot of knowledgeable people here on the subject.

I was going to set up a Paypal, I am just saying that I have heard bad things about it. That is how the person wants to pay.

I tried selling my item local but no one wants it.

Ebay
1 Ebay attached with 1 Paypal with matching information is a must. Your Paypal ideally should be "VERIFIED COMPLETELY" Before selling. You need to get your ducks in a row and sorted out.

Shipping
You need to figure out shipping before doing any listing, Your in Canada so I assume the "Canadian Post Office" has a website that can help you figure it out.

The guy lives in Michigan. I live on the West Coast.

Regular Canada post shipping will be about $120 to him.

I asked him for the friends eBay name later. I will post it if that is allowed.

any advice would be great.
